Ive just started using whey and I heard mixing it wit milk slows down the digestion after a workout and you need that protein right away. But I look on my bottle of whey and it says only dieters should take it wit water.

Im torn on the two....Whats the pros and cons of both??

For me, water after lifting, milk every other time.

I've always used water just from the standpoint that it's cheaper that way.

You want your pwo drink to absorb as quick as possible, regardless what your goals are.

Drink with a simple sugar for optimal absorption.

Protein, creatine, and dextrose is my pwo drink.

I've always drank it with milk. Tastes better that way.

I take it with water most of the time. If I'm substituting it during a meal, I'll use soy milk just to get that full feeling.

dude, you can just drink regular milk after working out and it works fine...of course whey is taken out of milk so it doesn't digest as quickly, but it does help build muscle if you drink a tall glass of it.

but I only do that because it's my only resort right now. I'm not paying all that money for protein powder, I can't believe how expensive that sh1t is.

yeah milk is an excellent source of protein that's what I tend to use when I run out of powder and I get too lazy to go out and buy more.....

without milk......regardless of goal and with a simple sugar as previously stated in this thread. And no, drinking milk after working out is not a substitute for a protein shake
