View Full Version : My rant about LA Fitness as a new member...will be updating

Its been a month since Ive been a member. I have gone to 6 different locations.
My main problem is the lack of gym etiquette. Ill constantly see machines loaded to the hilt with plates, with noone using them. People just leave machines loaded after they finish.
There isnt someone putting weight back on staff either, so you may have to take 500lbs of weights off to warm up on legpress and its even worse if you're a woman needing to workout. I did see some girls leave weights on too, you'd figure they would put it back from the frustration they might endure at certain times.
The gyms do have a lot of equipment that my other gym didnt have, but alot of it has a terrible feel or range of motion. I do like some of it tho, like the freemotion cable machines. They are lacking seated military press in many gyms. I noticed that and I heard someone else mention it yesterday at the location I was in. I really dont use it but Ive never seen a gym without it.
The dumbbell area can feel claustrophobic, dumbbells are scattered everywhere and Ive found pairs on the BASKETBALL COURT..wtf. One real frustration is the length of time to repair machines. I went to a BRAND NEW location and the cable cross over had been broken for a month as reported to me by 2 members.
Ill give it another month before I decide to cancel and check out 24hr. I have a membership to a REAL gym, which I now realize is awesome as much as I am tired of being there. I need something with more locations as I like to travel into other areas. Once I get some more money I will add more pieces to my garage that I like to use also.
The sight of beautiful women, isnt enough to save from the frustrations that many douche bags cause in the gym. Ill be going back to the location I went to yesterday, even tho its not close by.
So far that was my favorite location. People put shyt back in its place, people were friendly in there(headnods when walking towards them), hood cats talking to and working out with white business men/women. Dope vibe in that one, people working out hard.
I know this is lengthy but some of yall may have the same frustrations about your gym too, join in

You're a more patient man than me. I couldn't deal with that s*** that's going on at your LA Fitness. I need my gym to be organized, just the weights being on the wrong rack drives me crazy. Back when I was playing ball in high school our weight room had to be organized, and that's just always stuck with me.
If I were you I would just cancel the membership, and check out 24 Hr. I wouldn't put myself through that for another month if I had other options. And  at finding weights on the basketball court.

I hate gyms because they are too crowded and I'm too cheap to get a membership.
For now, I just ride my bike every other day (6 miles per day), eat as healthy as I can, and do calisthenics.

Went to another location today. Was awesome. The upkeep will be alot better due to the area its in. Its a gym Ill hit up now and then because its not super close. Gym was spotless though.

I fukin HATE how people dont put the weights back and when they do they mis match them on the racks. I recently joined the Y because I was able to get a good ass price, but the members are horrible w/ etiquette.
but my last gym had the music blasting way too loud, couldnt hear what I had going on in my headphones sometimes

all club access 34.99
they have single club for 29.99, but for the extra 5 its well worth it if you traveling...
I went back to the same location as yesterday, another great exerience. Ill see how it is in the week. Wealthy area also, so maybe I can snatch up a wealthy dime piece.
I also notice they have some different machines than the other locations...they also have 2 military presses which the other locations lacked. I found a dope seated leg press, Im not sure if its in the other locations but its smooth as hell
Palm Beach Gardens and the Northlake Locations are my top picks of the 6 Ive been to so far. I can rock with these 2

I'm assuming the gym with the weights on the basketball court was in the hood.

I wouldnt call it the hood, but people from all areas goto it. The other location is dead smack in the middle of an upper middle class to wealthy area. It boils down to management not getting on people(pause).

they just opened an LA Fitness about three miles from me, i'm leery on it tho because i've heard all kinds of horror stories on how they are run.
i've been going to Lifetime Fitness in downtown Mpls, its a cool place people seem to have good common sense about not leaving machines loaded.
I like having more than one gym to visit, scenery keeps you motivated
Now the one bloomington don't get me started, between the constant stare downs from the meat head posses ( i'm 6'6 240 but hardly a meathead), the dudes not wiping down the equipment and such and leaving their used towels wherever they stopped working out its just sad. .

Man I feel...The Gold's Gym staffers are so fukking lazy. Everyday the locker room is a fukking dump. They don't offer towels on the weekend. One day, they ran out of towels. The members stank.

as long as a gym has adequate free weights, leg press, and a squat rack......im good. I don't need a steam room, sauna, elaborate locker room, juice/shake bar, track, pool, basketball court, etc....
I hit that IRON and im in and out in 1 hour max everytime

That nikka is a beast :hula:
I like having the ball court, its not needed but I like to play. Its just a matter of slobs on there. I do hate a dirty restroom. I check every gym I goto for that before signing up.
I been driving to that PGA location and enjoying it tho. Its almost perfect

god damn muthafuccas had weights on the basketball court? Bwahaha. I used to go to the LA by my old college and that was a rule that I never saw broken. I guess someone could be doing some lunges with the dumbells but at least clean up after yourself. I stopped going there but I was getting away with using my uncles membership for a long time. Everytime I would walk in that biitch and scan the card the person at the front was always sweating me about taking the picture. I would always give them some excuse or I'd just keep walking by like I didn't hear them.

I go to the Y in Crown Heights... I imagine it to be not too much unlike the yard, except for the occasional spandex clad big booty chick strutting through
It gets hectic at times though. My workout would prob be less than like 40 minutes if I didn't have to wait for anything.
