View Full Version : How come VW/Audi is the only company making diesel cars in the US now?

mind you, here diesel cost like 50 cents less per gallon. but even if it was more, its still worth it when your car getting 40 mpg in the city. why aren't more companies following in their footsteps. jetta and audi tdi commercials are on tv all the time. seems like a good alternative to me til they get this alternative fuel cars on and poppin.

Outside of the commercial market, diesel has a bad name in the US. People are still under the impression that it's noisy, smoky and just foul smelling. Car companies did this in the 70's and it failed miserably, at least the American car companies.
Benz and old VW diesels are some of the best made motors ever constructed.
I'm glad that VW/Audi is keeping this going.

man, gas was only 25 cents a gallon in the 70's. cats need to seriously re-think this idea. 40mpg in the city is definitely hot in the streets.
bmw an benz do also i don't think audi has any diesels in the us besides maybe the v10 or v12 suv in diesel
