I decided against giving a track by track breakdown, but whatever. I'll let everyone who has been following know why I threw these tracks down in this mix.
Daft Punk- Technologic
I've been a Daft Punk fan for 12 years. I really never got into "Human After All" until about fall of 2007. I had Homework and Discovery, but for some reason, never heard it until years later. This was my favorite track off of there, it reminds me of fall days spent watching skate videos an Direct Effect on MTV hanging into limbo.
Trackdemonz- Touch It
It plays on the above track. The bass on this track is something else, and of course, the hand claps on this give it a swagger all of it's own. As you can tell, I've been very partial on this track as of late, and I figured the crowd at home should hear it in a studio quality DJ mix.
Debonair Samir- Samir's Theme (DJ Punish Mash-Up)
Whoomp There it Is! I had that cassette single back in the day, and I testified by it so much. It sucked to see that one leave. Nevertheless, DJ Punish takes this very strong track by Debonair Samir and makes it's hotter than before with little to no effort.
CLP- Ready Or Not
Get your mother****in' hands up! Party people! I love this stuff. CLP is Chris De Luca of Funkstorung and Phon_O. Great group. I highly suggest you get on their music, you will not regret it.
Tommy Sunshine feat. Peaches- Dance Among The Ruins (Boy-8 Bit Remix)
I have to thank the Serial Chillers for putting me onto this banging track. The bass line and the flat bass section before the Tigaesque one-note chugging synth beatdown. Boy-8 Bit is one of my favorite producers and he does his thing on this track. This is some headbanger music right here that gets heads jumping.
The Prodigy- Funky ****
This was one of my favorite tracks off Fat Of The Land. Of course, it's nothing without the Beastie Boys vocal flip. This is something dark and heavy, and I always like to mix these type of tracks in the mix, but now, I do it with something more familiar. Peep the "Hey" chant...I don't know about you, but that makes me wanna get rowdy!
DJ Tameil- Peanut Butter Jelly Time
I don't know what it is about this track, but the bassline and the vocals are just hot. I had to throw this in, it was just too much. If you don't like this track, then there is something seriously wrong with you. No offense. LOL!
Boys Noize- Lava Lava (Feadz Aval Aval Mix)
Feadz is one of my favorite producers out of the Ed Banger Camp, and I have really enjoyed the sly, stylish, and abstract nature of the music that comes from that label. Pair that with Boys Noize, and you have a very winning combination. The beats disentegrate and become chaotic, as the party has taken a turn for the unpredictable. It has begun, and you know it when the countdown occurs!
DJ Tim Dolla- We Are Your Friends
This is for the Justice fans and the Philly Club fans...I got you covered in one fell swoop.
Daft Punk- Rollin' And Scratchin'
On the subject of Daft Punk, I thought this was the best track from Homework. 8-Bit atari madness dirty electro swagger music from hell. I rock out to this.
I Juss Wanna ****
Ooh wee. I love dirty dance tracks...and this Baltimore club classic has been a handle of some of my favorite and most respected DJs. As a DJ myself, I admire DJs styles, presences, skills, abilities, and selections of tracks. Because of this, I feel I can find inspiration from other DJs, whether they play at a Festival or a Strip Club in Vegas. I do alot of experimentations with other musics and DJing has always been a way for me to get across this twited version of rave musik you hear now. You are appreciated. :)
One Foot In Da Rave- Play Me
This is a powerful track. I love these electro tracks, and I stand by this one. It's so in your face, it makes an Ultimate Warrior promo look like Living With Martha Stewart
Isa Gt- Pela'O (Crookers Remix)
And yes...time to turn it up to 11 with some Baile Funk/Wonky House, madness from Italy's greatest export...the CROOKERS! Yeahs.
Munchi- Nex Aan Te Doen Prt. 1
This is a raw kuduro, reggaeton, brazilian influenced track that builds in intensity. Munchi is on Myspace too if everyone out there wants to here more.
Zombie Nation- Seas of Grease
Somebody told be at the beginning of the year that horns were going to be a big deal, and I think that's what makes this awesome track by Zombie Nation shine. one of the most energetic tracks I've heard in years.
DJ Lowkey- Get With This (Get Busy)
Bass is what I go for, and of course, this has more brazilian flavor but is heavy on MPC hits and vocal samples. I'm reminded of some Go Go with this track for some reason, more of the reason I can mess with this track.
Zomby- Float
Dedicated to the memory of Aaliyah (R.I.P.). Zomby goes nuts on this one with the Aaliyah vocal sample to make a very memorable track. This reminds me of some UK Jungle from around 1994 in it's simplicity.
Rustie- Zig-Zag
You are not ready for this track. Or are you. This track is dubstep, technically, but I hear alot of Southern influence on this track, which makes it one of my favorite songs as of late. The madness starts and then you can't get out...so what are you going to do? Aww YEAH!
Outkast- SpottieOttieDopalicious
I listened to this one and noticed it was kind of off, so, this part of the mix might get worked on alot more and then I'll repost it. I'm a perfectionist so to speak. But this Outkast track takes the dance floor energy down into a smooth, soulful groove.
