What are the best and most acclaimed Rock albums of the 90's that get the similar praise of Hip Hop albums like Chronic, Illmatic, The Infamous, Doggystyle, Ready To Die, you know the usual cliche GOAT rap albums.
What are the cliche GOAT rock albums of the 90's? I need to expand my musical taste.

What I'd expect people to say (not necessarily my own):
Nirvana - Nevermind
U2 - Achtung Baby
Radiohead - OK Computer and The Bends
Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
REM - Automatic For The People
Beck - Odelay
Wilco - Summerteeth
Can't think of any more, but this will no doubt help

Beck- Odelay
Oasis- What's the Story (Morning Glory)?
Radiohead- OK Computer
Nirvana- Nevermind
Smashing Pumpkins- Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Soundgarden- Superunknown
Pearl Jam- Ten
Some of these, I personally don't like, but all are considered to be the heart of 90's rock and alternative.

I think the equivalents are: Nevermind, Siamese Dream, Dookie and Ten. In particular, Nevermind was just brutal and raw. Ten just seemed like every track on there could have been a huge single and that was just ill stuff.
I think the further you go in the 90s the wacker things get (probably because of the commercialization aspect of it).
Definitely Fugazi (Repeater), Chilli Peppers (Blood Sugar), almost all of the Alice in Chains discs and Jane's Addiction (Ritual de lo) should get love too.

Pixies-Doolittle. Might be 89 but I think its vital due to the influence it had.

My Bloody Valentine-Loveless
Nirvana-In Utero
Tom Waits-Bone Machine.

Mostly good stuff, although I wouldn't call "Bone Machine" or "Doolittle" trite or generic by any means. I wouldn't recommend either for somebody who is just getting into rock, as great as they both are.

You could be right about Bone Machine ,I just like to put some Tom Waits in any list of recommendations, but I think Doolittle is more accessible than OK Computer or In Utero.Really clean prodution, short songs and pretty catchy.

True, although Radiohead's lyrics are less...brutal than what the Pixies cooked up on "Doolittle". In terms of production, and overall accessibility, you are probably right.

Guns n' Roses- Use Your Illusion 1 & 2 (This is one of those love it or hate it albums. Very different from "Appetite for Destruction", a great album in its own right, but which doesn't count because it's from the late 80's)
Iron Man Production

Bad Religion - Against The Grain & Stranger Than Fiction

U2 - Achtung Baby
I've never understood why this album is so praised, sh*t is horrible to me and almost as bad as the most recent U2 albums.

It may have come out in '89, but Doolittle is probably the most innovative album heading into the nineties

"Ya gotcha bithces with their silicone injections

Nothing can top this Axl Rose gem:
"You get nothin' for nothin'
if that's what you do
turn around bictch I got a use for you
besides
you ain't got nothin' better to do
and I'm bored."
