I'm about to start on my NASM cPT. Getting my study materials in a day or two and I gotta pass the exam within 120 days. Wish me luck yall!

Anyone else a PT? How is the business? Any tips for a future PT?

I am. Study hard. Theres a section for PT on BB.com, youll most likely get better info there than on here.

Which cert you got? How's business?

I'll probably start off working for a gym, then after I gain some experience I'll try to be independent. I'm trying to become a firefighter but since the hiring has slowed the fukk down I figured this would be a good back up plan and something to do on the side.

my advice is to make sure you yourself are in great shape. We got these roly poly trainers at my gym and I'm like who the hell would use you when you're fatter than them?

If you can work at a gym with supplied clientel that would be best for now(you can also steal some) and you can run ads if you want on craigslist. Youll need some insurance to cover your ass if anything happens.

LA fitness pays you hourly and gives you clients

Other gyms have better cuts but you have to supply your own.

Its rougher now for alot due to economy but some people that have disposable income dont care and will keep training.

Results sell but personality is key. Alot of people like to workout, but are also looking for a friend to vent to...the women get everything off their minds

Speaking of incompetent trainers...

When I signed up for 24hr fitness last year, I got 3 free personal training sessions. I told my PT that my goal was to build muscle and get a lean buff body. And that I mainly wanted him to fix my forms on squat and deadlift. First exercise he made me do was some core mat exercise with a medicine ball. I never answered his calls again.

Most of the PTs at my gym don't even look like they lift. When I see other people going through their training sessions I can't help but to :smh:. Some female trainer was making this dude do like 30 reps of one arm cable curl.

Those commercial gym trainers don't even need to be certified, they get the training there and they just get taught to go through the motions. They don't even make you do squats and deadlifts because of the injury risks. I've only been lifting for a little more than a year now, but I've taken it real seriously, always reading up on fitness boards and learning about body mechanics, nutrients, supplements, etc, so I think I know more than most of these non certified trainers at 24 or Ballys or whatever.

As far as being in shape goes, I could drop about 4% body fat to be really ripped (5'9" 175 lbs 12% BF currently) but I think I'm alright in that aspect.

Thanks homie.

What you mean by workout of the week thing? Like describing and explaining an exercise or something?
