I don't think so, it's just another opinion if you ask me. Hell Lloyd Banks feel different about Ross selling 150k than the way 50 feels. That's just another opinion as well.

He cant say it was a flop because the last G-Unit album did those kinda numbers so if he says ross flopped he gotta admit T.O.S was a flop.Thats why he chose his words so carefully.

Probably so, probably not...who knows. Both records IMO flopped. Good point though.

50's on film praising Ross for basically putting up the same numbers and going #1 last year...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boylTwy4uU0

It wouldn't make any kind of sense to blatantly front and call his new one a flop now

i think 150,000 is a flop just cos all the **** he was talking, i bet ross think it flopped in private and his record company must be kinda mad.

on the other hand, jada did the same numbers and i think his wasn't a flop, just cos i didn't expect him to do sh1t and i bet jada thinks he done alright.

Its all in perspective.

how much did Reks sell, cos thats the best album i heard this year, i bet he done proper low numbers?

shame, cos its a great album.

If 50 sold 150k first week and got no.1 ...would you say flop ?

whitedawg3000

it's all relative

50 sold 1.1 mil his 1st week in 2005

and 700k 1st week in 2007

but Ross is a new artist for christ's sake,
he's only been out since early 2006,
so for him to have 2 gold albums
and 3
#1 rap albums on the charts is pretty damn good, IMO

do you despise Ross, just because it's what 50 tells his fans to do??

YOU NEVER ANSWERD...

would that be a flop for 50 ???? you know it would ,maybe not for ross ...but for 50 yeh ...reason why ..is cus 50 is on a much higher level .....
ross is happy with 150k ...50 would never be ..

weezy sold 1 mill first week ...kayne ...t.i all went gold first week this year ...so surly ricky could have pushed 250k 300k ...

yes he no.1 album ..but if t.o.s dropped that day instaed of rick ross ..that would have been no.1 ...It was very easy to get no.1 album that week

i despise anyone who is fake ..talks about selkling drugs ..when he wore a badge

may not be a flop, but ross was tryin to become a boss get his own label deal and all that. IF u tryin to get the majors to cut u a check to put out your artists u better be selling more than 350K.

You mean a label deal like the one they already gave him after Trilla? Deeper Than Rap is the first release under his new label imprint through Def Jam, Maybach Muzik...and they already have the Triple C album coming under it

Deeper than rap came out thru slip n slide buddy check the back of the cd. If Ross don't turn a profit u think def jam is gonna waste they time with a ccc album.

first, hat whole flopping thing depends on expectations. if your last album went 3 times platinum and you spend X amount for it to go 5 times platinum, and your album sells 800K then it's a flop.

if you sold 20k last time and you're an independant and the next album sells 200k than it's not a flop at all.

depends on circumstances and expectations.

second, i'm not getting a cut so i really don't give a fukk as long as the music is good.

Ross had a two million dollar budget. That means he gotta sell 278 000 units for def jam to recoup their money...anything after that is income...I don't think thats impossible for him.

how did you come up with 278,000?

EminemStan
05-01-09, 08:52 AM
how did you come up with 278,000?

record companies in the US get a little bit over 7 dollars from retailers for every sold unit...

I used 7,2 dollars

2 000 000 / 7,2 = 277 778 units actually

----

You can also put his single sales and future royalties into the picture wich would give Def Jam an higher income, but thats harder to calculate.

----

If we put these numbers against Curtis wich had a worldwide budget of 27 million dollars, and sold what? 3 million copies world wide? Please correct me.

lets say they get 7,2 dollars on world wide sales (it's probably 6,5 in europe and 5 in asia)

3 000 000 x 7,2 = 21 600 000

so thats -5 400 000 dollars, quite big flop on Curtis for interscope

It has Maybach Muzick on it too, does it not? It's listed on all the charts (billboard, radio and such...as Maybach Muzick/Slip N Slide/Def Jam)

They put out a CTE album...so i don't see why not...there won't be some huge push behind it like it's some huge major release, but they'll put it out...they knew how big of an artist Ross was when they gave him the deal...

Now the euro wiggers have a problem on their hands, Curly, their second father, said out loud, that it wasn't a flop.

And the guy who interviewed him put him in a nice box too

"Is there such a thing as #1 flop"

Deal with it dumb wiggers. It's over. Even the guy that actually was beefin, said it.

Which makes you, internet typers, more irrelevant than Coolio right now.

so when that happens watch the beefing start all over again

....

I'm confused...if you knew the new album is on Maybach and knew they already gave him the label deal...why'd you say he's trying to get a label deal that he already has? What does Slip N Slide have to do with what we're talking about?

My point bout CTE is that Def Jam knew USDA and Blood Raw weren't gonna do big numbers, just like they know Triple C's not...it's not like they're pouring millions into these lil side groups expecting them to go platinum...they knew the type of numbers Ross does when they gave him the label after Trilla

I mean when I first heard "Hustlin" I was like  "this n1gga ain't got it like that". And that's what anyone with sense will know. I just enjoy or ignore music for what it is and how it sounds. I give 2 fuks about the actual artists. That's why I'm not going all out like some these kats. I swear you can damn near feel them pounding on the keyboard or furiously scanning the net trying to find points for their argument for their "heros".

:laugh: who really believed that rick ross knew noriega? Who really knew that nas broke, queensbridge project living ass, was a ghetto escobar? Its MUSIC! lol, every rapper over-exaggerates in their music. lol, everyone from miami knew that he was a small time hustler that made underground hits that was played on 97.7 bootleg radio station. lol
