As such, what do my fellow SOHH members have in mind as far as places to look both on and offline?

Try Macys. For about $250-300, you can get one.

man it really depends on a lot of factors.
price range?
2 or 3 button?
also on ur body shape - tall, short etc
occasion - wedding or interview, or something versatile
style: conservative or more modern
EDIT: just saw ur second post.
macys will have decent entry level suits (they have their own in house label called Tasso something) but also sell hart schaffner marx suits that are a cut above in quality/price. i would check out filene's basement if you have one in your city, or possibly a Nordstrom Rack. at filenes, assuming youre willing to pay around $600+ you can find top quality HSM, hickey freeman, brooks bros, zegna, canali etc suits for wayyy below retail. also would consider a Brooks Bros outlet, they will oftentimes have suits that are in current season for a bit less than retail.
the beauty of the internet is that with eBAY, assuming you find legit dealers, you can probably find suits that would normally cost thousands of dollars for a loot less. but again you're going to have to find a seller with perfect feedback reputation etc.
if ur looking for a conservative cut id stick to a basic brooks or HSM suit. zegna for a more mdoern italian suit.

Men's Wearhouse
Macy's
Nordstroms
Saks Outlet
They all have good stuff for anywhere between $300-$500...one bit of advice though...if you can spend the money for a good quality suit. It will last you a very long time and looks and feels much better than some cheap stuff.

Me personally, I'm looking for a white suit with green undertones ala the tie and trim of the hat.

Yeah, me too. Got a June wedding to attend. Don't want to wear black, grey or blue suit.
