For newer users of fl studio who sample, use the fl slicer and press (play till the end)
which is a button on fl slicer next to the
button that says animate, then you can change from one part of the sample/song to the
other. The fl slicer is in channels/add one(next to file, edit, then channels) Chop the
sample/song
into 35/40 second sections in audacity/cool edit whatever you use, because the slicer will
cut off some of the song if its past that length. This is Just one idea on sampling, if any beatclub
fam wanna add sampling ideas/tips feel free. http://www.divshare.com/download
/7094843-f50 quick example thirty second song section chopped in slicer , i just started using the slicer
little while ago, its alot quicker than what i was doing before, chopping different parts of
songs, laying in channel trying to connect and not being able to change the sample at
different parts, slicer feels more like a real sampler where you can flip **** and switch to
any part of the sample you feel like live, hope yall can add to your craft peace. Salute yall

good looking tek haha, just reread and re edited. Fl slicer is ill for chopping samples, and flipping different sections of the sample so your not just looping, well for me it is. Peace

haha damn, i forget i got a crazy mind, yo explain it simpler than that if you can cause i can't think of how to and i'll post it in the first thread and give credit, i'm just trying to share this info with dudes who might be starting out or don't know about it, so they can do it better than what i did. Peace
I prefer recycle for general automated slicing...even if it'll take more time to import the regions into FL.

word i never used recycle but i heard about it, is it really that different/better than fl?, might have to check it out good looks peace keep rising.
its what everybody uses....i think its the best tool in actual slices and setting of markers to suit your beat tempo.
generally (and Im no producer, really, I just do shytty beats when I have free time) my workflow would be manually chop the sample in WaveLab (which takes a good amount of time), then import all the audio in FL and trim it with edison if needed.
then Id slice the sample in recycle, listen to slices and insert stuff I like in
sometimes Id work from recycle first, when I want do a chop heavy beat.
if u heavy on FL, it has an FPC to which you can assign chopped pieces and then bang it out on midi pads.

likewise at the bolded word, got damn thats alot of different programs and switches. My problem is that takes a long time, then i lost what i was trying to do. I feel you though, doing it like that is more precise and probably sounds better than my joints, but i like to hear a song, get the vibe, chop it into sections throw it in the slicer and i'm able to change the sections how i want fast, but i'm not that serious with it. Only problem with my way is i can't get the chops exact, so i'll have to compromise in the middle. Yeah i noticed that fpc but don't have any midi controller. Good looks on the info peace fam keep rising.

quote "the slicer will cut off some of the song if its past that length."
you need to press ctrl+shift+delete and it will delete the mark points, then it wont cut off any part of the sample. I use slicer X to chop samples you can load two samples at a time one on deck A and deck B.

I use FL Slicer on loops or random clips of songs that aren't quite loops. If you have your chops right the FL Slicer can chop the sample up perfectly every beat, half beat, quarter beat, etc.
You can also click inside the individually chopped pieces and that individually piece will be magnified right above the graphics for the whole sample. If you put the mouse arrow over the smaller space with the individually chopped portion, you can right click and choose a different place to slice the sample ino a smaller part or remove a previous slice.
Then, you can use a keyboard, some other kind of midi controller, or even the piano roll to control the chops

Fl studio is cool when you understand the capabilities, most people sleep on the instrument properties, under the INS tab you can shape the PAN, VOL, CUT, RES, & PITCH using the LFO box at the bottom left if you adjust the AMT & SPD knobs. Right click any of those knobs create an automation clip, and then it comes down to your creativity. You can make the simplest thing sound complex. If you think Fl studio is dope check out Ableton Live, it’s like having multiple mpcs at your disposal since they included drumracks. It has one of the most intuitive sequencers the “session view”.

I'm trying to convince myself not to listen to this advice, i'm not sure why. I'm bugging, salute i didn't know that, i was thinking it was limited but i just don't know how to use it, word good looks on the humble. Need to do the bolded. Keep rising

The advice that Nastiest provided is good if your taking a 2 bar loop and want to chop it similar to how the mpc (auto chops) into 16 slices. Before when I was doing this method I would load up like 3 slicers than drop the the same sample in each slicer then filter out the H,M,L,. Now I do all my chops manually using the spectrum view it's more rewarding in the long run. Slicer X is basically the slicer + edison combined everything the slicer can do Slicer X does with more competence. Slicer X was introduced with FL Studio 8...

:hmm::dry::sad: at the technical know/grind, so far behind haha where did you learn your info?, to the bolded salute fam yall have the strength of patience fam, i don't. The slicer x sound sick, never used edison still on 6.8, oh yeah not a producer do it for fun/hobby. Peace salute mega rise fam.

I do this as hobby also trial and error was and still is my best teacher. I find chopping by ear forces you to be more creative instead of using auto chop, it's nothing wrong with auto chopping but I prefer to chop manually.
if you hit up youtube a few people have advance techniques on fl studio
here are a few

watch these videos it will open your mind to the power fl studio is capable of producing.

word fam i appreciate the advice and ultra mega salute for the vids especially cause i'm high and appreciate people sharing with each other on some free **** salute for that thought process, but on the real i'm ****ing hardheaded/ignore ****/move at my own pace so i might not do anything with the info for a while haha gotta foresight square boxes. I started this thread for cats that are a little newer than me and ready to run with the music, wanted to give them the highest level of know how i had so they won't be stuck where i was for awhile, best **** i know was the slicer for quick creation. I'm gonna put those links in the first post and give you credit for the people that don't read all the posts, salute for the knowledge i don't see anything in my pm. Peace

the mpc doesn't just chop sh!t into 16 pieces you have to manually chop it yourself
although the one i use (the 2500) does have an auto chop feature that i never use called the "chop shop" not all of them have this feature
so dont think that you just throw some sh!t into the mpc and it does all the work for you because it doesn't

interesting...I had pirated FL8 rar on my hd for a while but ive been putting off installing it as I have lots of projects and gazillions of packs in the FL7 folder and Im a lazy fukk...prolly time to upgrade lol
and what do you mean by spectrum view, is that the same view as in edison (basically a frequency contour chart ?)

if you load up a sample in Edison and press S thats the spectrum view, it works better for me than looking at wave files...

I feel what your saying but personally I prefer doing things the old fashion way using your ears instead of your eyes... ill rather have a sp303 or 404 over a mpc anyday...

right, thats what I meant.
that view is nice for figuring out notes and hits if you cant hear them by ear, I agree.

I had no idea this was supposedly a secret among mpc heads. This is what I do with all the loops I chop using soundforge and FL Slicer
