gucci,lv etc has always done dis shyt. Niccas was wearing it in 88, and kicked it off again around 01 with the gucci af1 era, now in 08-09 we have another emergence with gucci nskears lv sneakers, japanese sneakers etc,and moncler bubble vest and coats. How long will this last? Will the urban streetwear brands die down and come back out for an example its been almost ten years when rocawear, sean john, enyce etc had dropped, will we have a second wave of those brands?

the main reason people have flowed to those brands is because the roca/sean/enyce/ecko shyt...just got wack as fukk...they have done nothing to keep up with trends...their clothes all run an entire size too big...they got lazy in advertising/promo....

Even more so, the gucci/lv/burberry shyt...never was gone....even in 02 mufukkas was wearing that more than now...those brands will always be a staple in fashion and imo will always be more successful than trend brands. A pair of Cartier Glasses...a pair of Gucci Sneakers...a black gucci bag on a bytch...burberry trench coats...etc will never go away for long

and in terms of a second wave of those brands....aren't we getting that with the whole C&C, mighty healthy, 10 deep shyt? All those brands are awful to me but thats pretty much the extension of that style.

dats wat i mean usually only ppl like (dboys, rich ppl, or ppl who steal clothes) usually are the ones that is wearing it in the hood, im not talking about fakes, im talking about the real deal. i agree the urban fashion fell off around 2004 with the button up, and jersey era, then we went from tall tees to bape, bbc, dc and other street wear brands. And now alot of the hypebeasts/and trend follwers in the urban crowd sees these rappers and celebrities and they jump on the next thing,; i dont even have to name any names yall already know. Everybody cant spend 500-2k on high end design every week or month, and thats when the fake industry steps in(weather it be fakes sold online, out a van, fake stores etc..) fakes is wat pretty much wat makes brands die down for a min. Back around 00-04 u had fakes every wear and the brands was even affordable which is crazy from fake shoes to clothes. I agree which u those high end brands will never go out of style because they have the best quality even doe its limted at a high price. Its a cycle though, i was born in 88 i dnt know wat was going on around dat time cus i was a toddler, but i see old music videos, shows, pics of my mom n dad wearing dat shyt, and i research every brand before i buy it and i came to realize dat its all a cycle. I think fashion repeats its self i think its going to happend in hip hop too. With the economy on a rollercoaster alot of ppls views on shyt is going to change. The lv and gucci prices are raised 20% damn near every two months just how it was in 01-02. Gucci kicks never costed over $300 shouldnt dat tell u sumtn?

I just hate people who thinks that the price of the clothes=being fly

Its all about coordination. I am quiet flyness type of dude sorta like Nas and t.i. I hate flashy people like juelz and jim jones. The hood has too many jim jones.

being older, i came up during the 90's and saw how fashion was in the 80's. I could tell you that its all a cycle. With me, it's not always about the brand itself, its how you roc the clothes. Coordination is key. If you found some sh1t at a low price store but looks hot and you know how to roc it, then you ahead of the game. Dont follow the trends, be the trend setter. Thats why I laugh at these kids rockin these pradas or gucci belts thinking they fly. Me and my n1ggas was rockin Pradas in the late 90's in college. Now all of a sudden, they the hottest thing since slice bread. I remember when n1ggas were rockin Iceberg sweaters. I took it one step further, and copped me this black leather iceberg jacket with mickey mouse on the back. I wore that and these black gucci loathers to this Hampton vs Gramling game. The panties definately came off that night when the chicks at the game saw me.When you see n1ggas go right field, you bang a left. Last winter, I bought this mean navy blue couderoy coat, with black patches on the elbow and a fur collar from Daffy's. It only cost me $80. When I rocked that coat to the club, men and women asked me were I copped that coat from. They were all surprised I didnt buy it at some high end store. If you into fashion like that, you have to be one step ahead of the game. Rock something that n1ggas and chicks aint up on because there's more high quality brands out there besides gucci, lv, prada, etc. Think outside the box

True Story, Kanye west started to dress funny because he would stick out. I think like kanye west in a sense and i know you do too. Why would i spent 900$ for some louis vuitton steven sprouse sneaker when everybody will have them or buy prada sneaker now when everybody has them. I bought this zoo york grey jacket from macys and chicks always ask me what brand it is. I also bought this bubble goose from Image in NJ and its mean. I'm really into the gear game so i dont follow anybody. I have a vision of what will look good on me. I was neevr the hypebeast. I cop a pair of true religion from sammy fashion in 06 for 220$ and i sold it for 100$ because thats how distasteful they look now. I have every high end brand in ym closet but they are discreet items non of that jim jones over the top splash non-sense. I agree also with the point of trying to look somehwat different. I wear rocks, taverniti, citizens, nudies and diesel bc they are not over the top.I'm also starting to grow older so i am buying things wisely. Back in the day buying LRG, miskeen, roc-a-wear,sean john, etc i toss those items out every couple months. Now i have to really like something to buy it...no more impulse buying here. I haven't cop any fitted in a minute. Getting my t.i//nas//fab on

yall gotta realize sum ppl bite other shyt and put it in dey own style. wit kanye he wasnt always rocking polo, i seen dis nicca at evergreen plaza mall around 00-01 he was rocking regular shyt, jordans, he was on the jersey era shyt too, then he started fuking wit just blaze pharell and shyt and fonzworth and started ****ing with the the underground streetwear brands and high end shyt. Then when he blew up then he started to get dat$ den he switched is whole style up and now he is a trendsetter which is crazy. Kanye and these high end desinger brands started to bite/swag jack the back to the future look and the 80's wear, with the bomber jackets marty mcfly shoe look alike(yeezys, ato's,hightop pradas, lanvins etc..), the moncelr vest, bubble vest and fitted jean short sleeve denim look. Same with the air yeezy he made a fusion dat he jacked from the stuff dat he wears and had these so called sneakerheads in a frenzy, ppl who said they wouldnt buy or wear ato's, jordans, bapes, are rocking the yeezy's now. My think is are ppl wearing brands because of the hype or because its actually dope?

Yea you right. When Hov came out with the S.Carter's, those were a knock off of the original Gucci sneakers. You have to do your homework. Those Polo cookie boots in RBK's avi, I remeber those were out back in the late 80's/early 90's. All the big time dope dealers around my way use to roc those. And those Kanye LV sneakers are horrible. You wouldnt catch me dead rockin those. N1ggas just rockin them because of the name. Just because Kanye and LV are pairing up to make a sneaker doesn't make it hot off GP.

holycity to answer your question. Hype will make things that was wack before become dope. I'll give you a quick example, the wallet chain and the rock star craze. If some black kid said that they were rock star in 2001 and they dress like they do now i think general black public would think that he is crazy. Another one is Carlton banks became cool when we all know dude was lame as hell back in the day to us. I wont even touch on the skinny jeans movement. I just wish people pick one trend and stick with it. You dont have to follow every single trend. For me i hop onthe vneck white tees even though i was doing it back in junior high. I now wear designer jeans but thats it. From those trends from the past to now i incorporated my own style.

To get to your other points. Kanye west is not original in the least bit. He use to rock jerseys, had braids, had tattoos and wore jewelry. Same with pharell and lupe. At the same time they started to get money and when you are rich i dont see why you would want to dress like the next man. Kanye dont hide the fact that he is not original.

what Kanye was doing in the hip hop game in 04 with Polo, Grand Puba and Wu-Tang was doin the exact same sh1t in the early 90's with Polo and Hillfiger.

i agree i learn da history before i buy or wear even when i know its dope or not. Before da internet, i would see all da d boys rocking shyt dat i thought was dope, and tv too i was into kicks at the age 4 watching basketball 24/7 and other sports too, or sumtimes i would read mags n shyt like dat, i always dressed myself, even i was spoiled as a child maybe i get my fashion sense from my parents cause they always stayed in high end shyt. Now all these fake sneakerheads and so called fly ppl are now wats hot now i never think ppl would b on da same shyt until i started finding about sneaker forums. But i always stayed ahead in da fashion n sneaker game i mostly know in my city because of my sneaker game which is a good thing cus they saw me with it first now they ask me for advice on wats hot or not.

i know dats crazy cus fresh prince was da man now calrton is running things. I never feed into dat jim jones rockstar mohawk walet chain skull and bones look i thought it was corny seeing ppl coming outta nowhere. It never stopped me from wearing polo bape, bbc, dc, and jersey's. The only trend i probably hopped on was da fubu era/jean jacket velour suit era. I like sum of the high end brands because its dope price doesnt mean nothing cus i can get it, and dats the thing its crazy when u see ppl all of sudden hop on the next fad, im b real chicago fashion sense is ass especially the south side, its only a small % of ppl who are up on shyt before it happens and im one of em, just like da south sum ppl dont hop on shyt untill its on tv 24/7 ya feel me.

Most sneaker-head have no sense of style. I see that you mention some dope brands but most sneaker heads i know because i post on ISS and uptown.net put all their eggs in one basket ((sneaker)) and neglect the other parts. I'm a light sneaker head so i've balance meaning my sneaker is dope...my shirt and jeans are fitting correctly and they aren't wal-mart jeans and gap shirts.

I think anyone that buys 400 dollar shoes or a shirt and don't own a home is an idiot. That's just my opinion. I don't got no LV anything but I got two homes.

by the way, on the 'matching' issue, that over matching shyt IS overdose. Dudes getting the red and black shirt to match bred 11s and the bulls hat of course...shyt is corny

perfect example is this:

http://www.kicksonfire.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/nike-dunk-high-premium-one-1-piece-green-seafoam-chlorophyll-1.jpg

mufukkas WILL get get the lime green hat and shirt to match...you look stupid...wear them with some black shyt and it will look even doper...but matching griffeys with a mariners hat could easily be OD.

The whole trend is hilarious to me. I'm getting tired of seeing Gucci/LV monograms all over the place. A lot of it is tacky as hell, but let the hypebeasts do their thing.

As far as matching...I'm an earth tones nikka so I always match....browns, auburns, greens, etc...always go good together.
