View Full Version : Arms too weak to deadlift what I squat?

Right now I am squatting like 225-245x5 no problem
I cannot deadlift more than 180#. Grip is a minor issue but I think form is the major one.
What can I do to get my deads up?

Admittedly probably not the best. I'm prob. tryin to lift too much weight. I'm gonna watch some vids.

its hard to put proper deadlift form into words. essentially just keep your back straight at all times. once you start to round it thats when injuries start up. usually that means your azz needs to be lower when you start up your deadlifts. stretch your hamstrings properly before attempting this.

You killing them squats. Mines are still blah...Just remember look dead ahead at all times. Get in front of a mirror and perfect your form with 135lbs. Over/under hand grip always worked best for me.

I do the over/under grip... I think my arms are just too weak...

have you JUST started to deadlift? when i first started i started out with less than what i squat...but i moved up quickly.
otherwise what do your other major lifts look like? since deadlift is the best indicator of overall body strength, its possible you're just not that strong yet.

Well like I said squats are at a comfy 245x5, bench is at like 165x5 1 time. I did bent rows for the first time yesterday and I was doing like 135x5? I am going to add some arm only exercises though cause I think they are the weakest link and these compound exercises won't fix them. I think my core is stronger than my arms.
