joints, tendons, ligaments, bones, etc.

Shiits harsh, forreal. When I graduated high school I was about the same height I am now...but 40lbs of less muscle. I'm thankful obviously, but you dont really realize that all those little pieces working together to make your body work dont really care what it is. All they know is now they gotta work harder. Dont matter if its fat, muscle, whatever...all my body knows is its gotta haul around more weight.
On top of that, not only do I have to push my muscles to the max..but everything thats associated with my muscles gotta work too. When I do pressing movements with my arms, the tendons in my elbows and the ligaments in my wrist gotta play ball. When I squat...the joints, tendons, and ligaments in my knees gotta play ball. All that work adds up.
Best way to prevent these injuries is to stick to strict proper form, and proper stretching (stretching increases bloodflow to that area which prevents injury. increased bloodflow will also help heal). If you already hurt one of these areas, best way to handle it is REST and anti-inflammatory medicines.
Basic rundown of what these do in the human body:
tendons - connect muscles to bones
joints - locations at which bones meet other bones (anywhere you can get arthritis)
ligaments - connect bones to other bones
