So, I'm doin P90X and I can do most of the exercises, and if I can't, I just do my best and forget the rest. But, I'm 12 days in and I still can only do 3/4 of a pull-up.

I know it'll take time to do 1 and then more than 1, but is there any specific exercises you recommend to help me progress faster in this goal?

If I start doing more reps of overhead presses with my barbell, will this help?

Thanks in advance!

Lat Pulldowns (assuming you have access). Anything that works/strengthen your biceps and back should help. You can always use a chair or some sort of leverage while doing the pullups.

are you female?

assisted pullups would be best, if you have access to a gym. otherwise, like tweezy said lat pulls.

can you do a chin up? usually those are easier and you can build up with them.

if none of the above applies i would try to do a reverse pullup. as in instead of pulling yourself up...just jump up and slowly lower yourself down.

Not female. Just very little upper body strength as of now.

I can do 2 and 3/4's chin-ups. But, yeah, I'll try the reverse pullup. Thanks yall.

assisted pull ups and negatives

if you got a chair at home use it to kind of help yourself but remember you want it to still be as hard as possible to make the best possible progress

being able to bust out 20 assisted pull ups<<<doing 1 unassisted

nah mean?
