i said this before, but iTunes numbers are overrated. i mean, flo-rida break the download record a week after "crack a bottle" held it and it's a song that at the time (and probably still now) that hardly ANY ONE have heard of outside the net....(i remember even on here alot of people never even heard of flo-rida's song)

in other words, who gives a fucck about internet sales???? magnificent gets regular radio rotation, why would people download it when you hear it all the time on the radio?? whereas the only way to even HEAR banks joint is online....it's only logical that it would be a more downloaded track, as well as the fact it's a viscious dis track to boot

No offense but it sounds like you're stuck in the past.

Like it or not Itunes is replacing sh*t like the radio and CDs. "Why would people download Magnificent?" is a silly question considering hit singles generally sell well. It's just not a hit single, period....and it not being a hit single on Itunes is actually more relevant in '09 because Itunes is outselling Best Buy, Wal-Mart, etc. and all the places that sell CDs and singles.

It's the #1 place to purchase music, and has been for a while.

So whether or not something gets played on the radio is irrelevant. This ain't '96.

Flo Rida's song has been #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since February 28. That mean it's everywhere. You can't turn on a radio station be it Top 40 or Urban without hearing that song. Unless that thread was made in January, I'm not sure if I believe that.

Yeah but I bet when their favorite artist/s are doing well on iTunes but not quite the billboard then it does matter. Something as powerful and important to music sales as iTunes is there is NEVER a time when it's irrelevant.

Fam some people are just stuck in the past. I was in the Rec Room telling dudes about digital distribution....sh*t like Itunes for music, or Steam for games....and it was like talking to a caveman about quantum physics. I had to literally post up sales charts and sh*t and even then dudes were like "well....I don't know" :hmm:

Then I told dudes I play games on my computer and they were like "how do you do that on a 15 inch monitor?". These dudes had no concept of sh*t in '09....how you can hook up flat screen TVs to your computers now. They thought I had an Amiga hooked up to one of those big body Etch-A-Sketch sized screens or something.

not neccessary stuck on the pass, but stating that iTunes sales are a bit overrated, and the flo-rida joint is a great example, because if you ask most people that doesn't frequent the net that much if they heard of that song, they wouldn't have a clue.

all i'm saying the main reason "officer down" is getting more downloads is because that's basically the only way you'll get to hear that track, whereas with magnificent, you have several outlets you can use, to include watching the video. a bunch of suburbanites downloading music isn't that significant in comparison to the bigger picture.

and it's not even a dis to banks or support for ross, but there's a logical explaination as to why it's getting more sales in one outlet. is "officer down" doing numbers anywhere else. is it on anywhere else on the billboard charts? no it isn't. so, props for people interested in the track, but as i stated a couple of months ago, iTunes is overrated.

it's maybe 2009, but america still isn't solely internet dependent. there's niqqaz out here that STILL buy tape cassettes!! mutha****az that NEVER fuccked with an iPod before.

How is that a great example?

Not only is it #1 on iTunes it's been the #1 song in the entire country
(#1 on the Billboard Hot 100) since February 28. How can you say that most people outside of the net probably haven't heard of it? That is absurd. That song is flooding the Urban and Pop market.

You aren't listening.

Itunes is currently the #1 music retailer in America. This ain't got sh*t to do with the internet or "a few suburbanites".

As far as the internet, 63% of the households in the U.S. got broadband, and 73% have internet in some other form. Also $7 billion of the stimulus package Obama just passed is specifically for expanding internet use in America.

So I dunno what you mean. This ain't '95 where a handful of people are on the internet. Saying something is "only on the internet" in '09 means 3/4 of the country could've seen it.

you're not getting where i'm coming from. i'll put it in another anology. fox news is the number one cable network and been that way for years. most people, if not everyone knows that fox news is a conservative based network and basically the ONLY network for conservatives. that doesn't mean every other network is irrelevent, because their viewership is more split up of the liberal and independent base.

with iTunes, it's the same way. it's maybe the number one retailer, but it's not the ONLY one that people get their music from. now if the case that iTunes is the ONLY place to acquire music, this would be a different debate, but the fact remains, that whut's said from iTunes is not stamped in gold. "officer down" is winning in ONE outlet. congrats to that, but it's not a big deal, it's a logical one being that's the only way being that the only wya to get access to the joint is online. "magnificent" can get reached in more than one way, as well as it being out online for several months now vs. several weeks with "officer down".

i'm trying to figure out since when iTunes became so relevent? since "crack a bottle" hit number one???

so are you saying that slim thug and mike jones are PROVEN signs that houston is on a comeback because they're both above banks???

or "low" is realistically going THAT strong, because that two-plus year old flo-rida song is WELL above those????

like i said, iTunes is OVERRATED. all it tells you is whut songs are downloaded more from that specific outlet, not which is the BIGGER song overall. banks dis track can only get heard by downloading it online. that's like a someone makes the ESPN highlight by doing a slam dunk, but the team STILL loses the game. the slam dunk maybe ill, but it means nothing in regards of the bigger picture

It has nothing to do with I-Tunes being overrated or anything like that...it's selling more on itunes because it's newly released on itunes, whereas Magnificent has been availible for over a month...it's like comparing an album's first week sales to an album that has been on the charts already months before...I said this in the other thread about this same exact sh!t, but these g-unit internet muh'fukkas are worst than foxnews with the spin, misinformation, and flat out lying...why would they even pretend to make some phony, worthless point about itunes chart position with 50 having two superflop official singles out there?

i really agree with you on that...the main reason i was stating iTunes is overrated is for the fact that people on here is making a point as if iTunes is some sort of gold standard. i mean if you look on that chart of this week, you have songs that are two years old with more downloads for this week than banks dis track. it's just funny to me how people on here are jumping for joy over the fact one track is downloaded MORE than another. thus the slam dunk, but still losing the game analogy. banks dis was a slam dunk, but that doesn't mean g-unit won the game, musically....not at this point at least
