there's one thing this place lacks big time...

actual discussion about making music. everyone posts tracks and feedback and stuff and that's cool. i just think we ought to spend some time talking about the process...composition, sampling, mixing, creating synths, how to make certain sounds, and so on.

there are so many talented cats here with all sorts of experience making music and i think everyone could learn a lot from each other and really build together.

anyone else feel me?

another thing I think about is.. i think some ppl are scared to share tips too! like if you show me how to compress my kick its gonna beat hearder than your kick. See the thing is no matter how much of my tips i share with yall we will never sound like eachother..u feel me??.. not sayin that in a dissin way but more like. everyone has theyre own style.. I can teach the world logic.. but the world is gonna do something differently than me. Look at the sample flips each month. One sample flipped 30'x differently.. like i said above this reply.. ask me anything..

Idk I see cats here all the time givin tips and tricks but their in different threads. But I see what ur sayin. I'm down for questions cuzz I got a ton of em. My only problem is I don't use what most cats use. I'm strictly a Cubase and vst guy. I don't use nothin else really so a lot of times I read comments about programs and don't have a clue of what yall talkin bout but I still soak it in. But anyhow I'm down for some edutainment. Let's bully!!!!

nah i get what you're saying and i agree to a certain degree. but my point is, and i'm picking on ya but i'll just use you as an example to illustrate...

your drums are godlike, everyone knows it and im sure you got your secrets on how you get your famous 'siege' drums. but im sure you can also give little tidbits of advice to peeps to make their drums sound better, in a general sense, not just a siege style sense...nah'mean?

i didnt bring this up so peeps could figure out how to emulate each other but just more to see if peeps are willing to share some of their knowledge with each other. i think we can all benefit from it.

and besides, sharing is caring.

This is a powerful thread. I could def use some pointers.

i feel and cosign this thread.

i think the reason why people don't do it as much is that a lot of this is pretty "abstract" (how people compose, how stuff sounds, etc). sometimes it's hard to put it into words if you don't know the exact technical words.

i'm not even sure what it means to compress, threshold, pockets, color, and so on...

Yeah, this is a good thread.

I could use some tips on panning. Is there like a science to it? Usually I just keep it under 25 to any given side.

why doesn't everybody start a thread with tools and tips, ideas suggestions and compile them, send them to one person to up and ask to permanent sticky the thread. Keep adding to the thread in the first post or something, i think a few people have requested this before. Peace keep rising. Good idea by the way i feel the aim.

well i think since the battleground isn't being used we should start posting our beats in there and use beat club as a learning or tips center

Mowgli gets BAD rep on here, and people forget he is a beast on the boards.

this is a dope idea right here. Like a Bleek Week, Seige Week, Macado week, Tek week, and so on down the line with whoever wants to share some things with the club with their particular set up. Like I kinda pride myself on being the FL studio go-to-guy on some things, but I know Nastiest fuks with it too and has some jewels to drop. And then you got Seige with all things Mac related. Bleek knows various systems and marketing and so on. Because like I think Mac mentioned, not everybody has the same set up, so a lot of gear talk is irrelevant to me too. This way, every producer in here can give a little bit more back to the forums. Because I feel like I dont contribute enough to the boards at times and I get a TON of game from here. Pretty much the only prod. forum I fuk with. And somebody else posted a good idea of the tournament board as the new track/feedback forum to keep in about the music on the main forum. A lotta good ideas in this thread.

I co-sign this thread. I'm still an amateur at this, but because it has been just a part time hobby for me. I could use a lot of advice on set ups. I actually bought me a bass and I also have a Casio WK something 76 keys keyboard that I don't even put to use because I don't know how. I would love to use my keyboard to make tracks and use FL as my host.

Word up... I feel this, I am gettin back into makin music and I feel like composition wise I have hit a brick wall. I need help writing melodies... sadly I used to be much much better in envisioning the sound I wanted a song to have and actually executing it; now I'm stuck in this major/minor chord loop. I could def. use some help. Gonna post some shyt

I'd love to hear some of your work man. As far as writer's block, I've been there. Sometimes you have to let the melodies write themselves. There are methods that I've learned in harmony class that can help you out. I'll wiki some for you.
