Having a cert is one thing, but a good trainer is always trying to educate themselves.

I know a cert. shows your credentials, but the way I think of it, if a person has their body in immaculant condition...isnt that creds enough?
One would believe.

That makes the biggest impact on someone. One guy could have 33 certs and be fat, may know a shyt load of info, but the guy thats ripped is who people want to go with.
Lady I know has the shyttiest certs but her client base is booked solid because she is in amazing condition. She was 220 at one time and now shes like 115 ripped and looks like a fitness model.

That was my thinking as well. I'm in ok shape but I was really gonna dedicate and focus on getting my yokes up and trying to become a trainer (I know its a lot more than that). But gO back to school and get some type of little certificate but just let the body do the talking. (sort of speak)
LOL Like you was saying Diggy, when I go to LA Fitness and see some fat a$$ personal trainer I'm like 'is there something I don't know going on here?' I wouldn't pay for that ish.

LA fitness places you with a trainer. If you get a job there, they fill your slots for you and pay you an hourly. You dont sell training. You have plenty of opportunity to make a client base incase you bounce and want to go independent.

i'd be getting certified and insurance, if something happens to a client you could be liable..

Are you getting certified and is the process that long? And I was wondering, is there a big market for that in Sydney? That would be ill'n.
Oh ok, I see why its like that now. Thanks for clearing that up Diggy. I knew something had to be amiss there. I thought they were hiring people specifically as personal trainers.

Most gyms will cover you under their umbrella. If you are independent you will need insurance, its not that expensive tho. It was about 100 bucks for the year. You should get CPR certified also.
lol@ the gym I worked at barely having a complete first aid kit...Then I went to LA one day to see my boy that manages it and they had a defibrillator on the wall

What's the easiest/quickest way to get certified? Go to a junior college and take courses there? I'm enrolled at state school but I don't have the means right now to take classes that dont have to do with my major.

Look thru the the 1st link I posted. Theirs a list of certs. You can get the study tools and then take the test in a few months once you feel comfy you know the material.
If you get a degree in sports or medical sciences you can use that.

NCSF
IFA
I had a job sitting before I had the cert and they allowed IFA, which is a basic cert, many places(gyms) dont take it, but if you are independent its a cert. I used that to get in the door.
My gym had a 50/50 split that worked out to 30 per hour, but the more clients you had, the higher the split. Some people were at 70/30
The gentleman that taught the NCSF class paid his way thru med school with training. Dude really knew his shyt, he was about to be a brain surgeon. He would tell you anything about the human body off the top of his head, dude was a medical braniac. He was charging clients 70+ per hour while in school

On occasion, I do more consulting online than anything at moment. The gym I am working for is redoing some stuff so Im waiting till they sort that out. Im trying to get my indie business going within a few months. I need to get rid of the g35 1st tho. I need a small suv for what I wanna do.
