You rep Brooklyn & you need the internet to tell you about Santogold? Do i need to talk to you about her crew (Spank Rock & Amanda Blank) too? I just went to one of her shows where she had girls who looked & moved like Chuck D militants. Sh*t was off the wall (& at Studio B, too).
In the last few months she's had Project Pat & Three Six Mafia (who remixed this joint, too), Jay & numerous big name DJs remix half of her album. Get on it maddaf*ckah!
Spank Rock and Amanda Blank were out like four years ago--how are they her crew?
I'm not really feeling her to be honest. I thought LES Artists music video was dope though.

Santogold, Spank Rock & Amanda Blank are on tour together, feature on songs together more than they do with anyone else. They're crew. They were perform together on stage constantly.

That's funny. You know, there's a reason that sh*t's in Red Hook... Red Hook is a vast wasteland.

Honestly I really don't get the hype around her. I've only heard about one/two tunes from her that I actually like.
She's good, I dig the album but I don't get the comparisons to M.I.A - their sounds are completely different
Might have something to do with Diplo's involvement in both. I'm not really sure what his relationship w/ Santogold is to be honest (producer, supporter, etc.) The Karen O comparisons seem more accurate but even that's a reach.
Seems like writer laziness to me.

Read more music news, or at least use google. Fair enough its only just happened, but if you're gonna post just to tell someone they're wrong it'd be prudent to check.
And MIA is much better and more listenable.
Santigold comes across as terribly try-hard. MIA's music is(was) so out of sync it has become 'cool', whereas Santigold took the blueprint and clearly aimed for the hipsters specifically. You could hardly level that at MIA based on either of her albums.

Kill yourself. It usually helps to know what you're talking about before you try and kick knowledge. No one was really being disrespectful either--but you had to get hurt feelings. Go home.
Karen O a bull**** Blondie front woman? Name five bands that are a part of this so-called no-wave revival.

I won't respond to the top bit seeing as though Clem did it for me. Although with reference to music news, I just use Pitchfork/NME really. That covers me fairly well.
To go from Creator to Les Artistes to Shove It to You'll Find A Way is a bit much for me on one album. Sounds like she was just trying to make an album specifically so that there was one song everybody in any genre would like. Good songs, but a bit cynical and doesn't flow particularly well. I never tend to like albums where every song is explicitly made to sound like a potential single. Same reason why most hip-hop albums these days are awful.
