I'm trying to eat about a half hour before I go to the gym. I know it's better for you. I wanted to know what are some good foods to eat that will give me a boost.

The other night I had a foot long turkey sub from subway, with the baked doritos and a diet coke. A half hour later I felt like I had enough energy for a marathon. I was playing ball by myself (before the gym) running for my own rebounds 'n shyt...faking outlet passes...it was crazy. Then I went to the gym and ran 2 miles and did a full bi/tri/shoulder workout.

This morning I had two slices of whole foods "oat nut" bread with that 365 whole foods peanut butter. I cut a banana into it...and also had apple slices. And drank it down with a glass of water. I was EXHAUSTED at the gym...I felt faint and while I was running I wanted to quit. I finished my mile but it was hard for me.

So, I don't know if there's more to it. There probably is. Sleep, food that you ate earlier or the day before etc. But I just wanted to make sure.

if you feel sluggish at times, you should take this supplement called noexplode. Works great and you will get a good workout everytime.

Other than that, before you go to the gym you should try and eat a banana and even some simple carbs like bread or potatoe. Cause that breaks down faster giving you a bunch of energy to burn fast.

no explode doesn't make me lift heavier. it just gives me energy to put in that extra 2-3 sets.

I usually try to get roughly 100g carbs and 25-40g protein about an hour and a half before heavy lifting.

I'll eat, wait an hour, take preworkout supp, leave for the gym. By the time I get there, dress, and warmup it would be 30mins after the fact.

I've yet to feel sluggish.

kind of strange but one of my football coaches had honey available before kickoff in the locker room. We the players used to pass it around to whoever wanted some of it. Just got a quick squirt of it and passed it to the next man. I thought it worked to give you that little extra "something" but it was a couple of years ago and I do smoke a lot more weed now.

NO xplode works but its expensive and imo a waste of money. There are TONs of pre-workout supps that provide energy but at way less of a cost. Nitric Oxide makes you swole during a workout but thats about it.

For breakfast, I always have WHOLE GRAIN toast (sometimes with natural peanut butter, eggs, whatever...) because of complex carbs for lasting energy. Put in a piece of fruit or yogurt. I let the food digest for an hour than go and workout.

Quiznos/Subway for post workout meal ftw!!

no explode is cool but your body will build up a tolerence to it and you wont feel the same effect after a couple weeks. I make my protein shake and drink it on my way to the gym while listening to some jeezy (yyyeeeeaaahhhhh)and it gives me the same effect as noxplode did when I used to take it.

Makes sense. We had a pregame meal about 3-4 hours before the game so maybe he was offering it along so players wouldn't feel they were playing on an empty stomach. I couldn't remember exactly why.

NO-Xplode sucks, there are other pre workout mixes that are much better.
And I believe NO's main benefit is dilating blood vessels and allowing more nutrients to reach the muscles. Of course the pump is what we all love but I'm sure it's more than that.

Back on the subject, I can't really afford to prepare food before going to the gym because I get home from work, take my supplements, and go straight to the gym... so I got some Jell-O rice puddings and some granola bars for quick snack.
