This thread might bomb but here it goes.

One tip I would share is when you're doing a set of 10 lifts, instead of counting from one to ten, I count from one to five then back from five to one. You might not think this is any different but mentally (for me at least) it feels like I got less reps to go. It's weird try it out.

now share yours.

while running on the treadmill (or where ever) I find it easier to run to the bpm of a song...obviously techno songs with the bpm of 110 - 125 are fast...it's like 6+ mph

I was running to Kanye's "Amazing" and that comes out to like 5.5 mph...that's my cool off song, lol

remember to run behind the chicks who are on the step machines. makes it a lot more interstingunfortunately the treadmills face out the window so all I see is retards in their whips at the light.

But LOL@ me "going for a drink of water" every 5 minutes today cuz this cute ass broad was running on the treadmill which happens to be right by "other" water fountain. Yeah, sure, I could've went to the closer one...but, uh, I needed to loosen up my limbs after each set. :guilty:

when it comes to working out or treadmill running, put the rocky IV soundtrack on ur ipod. when u feel ur self getting tired, put that sh*t on. it pumps me up every time. I bullsh*t u not. I learned this back in high school when they used to play that sh*t all the time in the weight room.

The grips on the machine arent always best(hammer high row)

http://www.expertvillage.com/video/8679_back-strength-high-row.htm

^^ example of machine^^

You can get a different and more effective stretch and squeeze in your lats by grabbing the actual white frame where the handles are welded onto....you can use it as a variation if you want

You can do this with other machines or use them for other exercises

- Warm up and stretch properly before lifting i.e. Rotator cuff/shoulders

- Break down your weights. I hate it when some faggit leaves 400+ lbs on the rack and expecting the next dude or chick to break it down. Yea we know you can lift heavy but show some courtesy.

- Don't try to lift more weight than you can handle to impress girls. You can really injure yourself.

Mind muscle connection w/ lighter weights >>>>>>>>>>> rocking your whole body on heavy ass weights

Stretching too much before weight lifting can be counter effective. Do warm ups with lighter weight. If you really feel like you have to stretch, stretch lightly. Weightlifting is different from active sports, when you stretch your muscles you are actually weakening your muscles. Stretch thoroughly AFTER your lifting session to reduce soreness and to encourage growth.

Don't take supplement advices from WhiteMale

Etiquette tip: Use squat racks and power racks for exercises that actually require such. Don't get on a rack and start doing barbell curls with 5 lbs plates on each side. Use a damn preset barbell.

Because...

Anyways, my key tip is definetely stretch before doing any leg exercises such as squats or leg press, and when doing squats or bench or deads make sure you have PERFECT FORM. Lifting that much with sloppy form is very dangerous.

chewing gum always keeps my endurance and concentration up (stole it from MJ)

always do the "hard" sets (deads, bench, shoulder press) first since you have the most strength then.

when I was bulking, I saw the best gains doing 5 sets x 5 reps

if you lift and do cardio during the same workout, always do the former first

for the newbies: if you're doing a exercise for the first time, dedicate a entire workout just focusing on your method/form before you go heavy with the weights. its like shooting free throws... repetition is the key. you don't want to learn the hard way after you hurt yourself

if you're a dedicated runner: be prepared for the dreaded Jogger's Nipple (http://forums.projectcovo.com/showthread.php?t=866638) :(

If you dont like gloves, buy some grips such as

http://www.newgrip.com/handgrips.html

just find some that are thin enough for you..some of them have too much padding, like my gloves I had. I couldnt grip the bar firm enough

I prefer doing cardio first, as I hate doing it the most. also, I like lifting weights after running as my heart rate is up and i have broken a sweat by then.

He's right. You won't be lifting as much or as long and missing out on a full workout.
