I know old school lifters used to go on that diet for a few days to cut weight before a competition.

I gained a few pounds (but am still relatively skinny), so I've been getting back in shape lately. I know how to eat well, for the most part. I already cut out soda and drink only water (except for beer and liquor on certain occasions, like yesterday), I've stopped eating fast foods and have been hitting the gym.

But I started thinking about the tuna and water diet the other and wanted to try it just for the hell of it, see what comes out of it. Here's the diet I am/will be following:
http://www.bodytweaking.com/2006/03/06/tuna-and-water-diet/
the major points:
# Normally this diet is followed for 3 days.
# Take in 6 equal tuna servings. Once each 2,5 - 3 hours.
# Drink as much water as possible. At least 3-4 liters. Water fills your stomach and? helps you not to feel hungry. There is no limit. Drink as much as you can.
# Take at least twice a day some vitamins. This is crucial since you won’t get much vitamins from tuna during this diet.
Reading the comments section under the article, a lot of people have quick success with this diet.

I'll only do this for a few days, after that I'll go back to eating healthy and having a more diverse diet. I've bought some cans of tuna, a store-brand metamucil knock-off, multivitamins for men, and some veggies.

Have any of y'all ever tried this? What were the results? Any other similar diets out there?

never done this, I cant eat tuna like that, but I know alot of people that do. Experts say you shouldnt eat that much tuna, due to mercury and other issues.

Im sure its wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than me eating junk all week so, post results

I'm confused, what exactly are you trying to do with the diet? Just drop some pounds or are you looking to "recomp"

I'm not a serious weight-lifter like that, so I had to google "recomp." Does it mean: "keep bodyweight same, reduce fat, gain muscle?"

I'm looking to drop some pounds over the course of a few days.

Yeah thats more or less the definition, my bad. I get wordy sometimes.

Tuna and Water. Tuna is good for what its good for PROTEIN. But I dunno bout dieting using it ONLY. Especially in your case where you're trying to "lose a few pounds in a few days" You could take Women's Midol or some other dieuretic and do basically what it seems like this diet will do. Drain water and cut.

Whats a few pounds? What are your current stats? Weight, height? What are you eating?

it may be hard to post results, in terms of weight, seeing as I don't own a scale...

but, I should def. be able to see the results in terms of definition around my face, arms and chest/stomach

Honestly, it's not a huge priority to drop all that weight in a few days, but I'd like to see it happen. I know I'll get in shape eventually, and I started working out again about 3 weeks ago. In a month or so I should be looking fit again.

By a few pounds I meant 2-3 lbs.

I'm 5'6". I don't know my exact weight because I don't own a scale but it's been hovering around 150-155 for a few years now, so that's probably where I'm at. I've always been active and in relatively good shape throughout my life, but this last year I got a sedentary job and did less exercise than I ever did at any point in my life before, plus ate more fast food than I have in the past.

My regular diet now is water (soda and beer very rarely), protein shakes, cereal, sandwiches (turkey mostly), tuna, oatmeal, chicken, chicken sandwiches from fast food joints. Salads, but I honestly don't eat very much fruit. I'm working on changing that though.

I need to learn to cook, lol.

i did this for 2 days after i posted, dropped a little fat, not a ton but it was noticeable. Don't know how much because I don't have a scale, but I just ordered one.

I'm going to be trying this off and on (maybe once a month or so). for the next couple of days I'll try it again but with cereal in the mornings and a sandwhich and salad at lunch, only because Tuna gets so disgusting eating meal after meal :gag:
