well, someone emailed us about this matter, and i can't imagine why anyone but you would have done so. at any rate, here was my response:
the name "Orbital-Fetus" is already an activated, registered name. if you are the owner of this username, you should be able to post with this account.
if you need to get access back to this account b/c your password was reset back in september when the site came back up, we can help you do that. just verify the email address in the account (it was a charter.net one), or the birthdate/zip code in the profile. then we'll reset your password for you.
thanks.

a friend sent that e-mail on my behalf, another friend set up this account for me.
as for my charter.net account, it is inactive, i have moved twice since i had that account and no longer use charter.
the user name i put in for with my optimum.net is "0rbital-Fetus". the 0 is a zero, not an "o". this should allow me to keep my semi-original user name and give me complete control over my account.
i would like to thank the one who sent the e mail on my behalf as well as the one who set this account up for me, as well as you 7:30 for helping me with this.
all i need is a confirmation e mail sent to my optimum.net e mail account.
if there is anything else i can do to expedite the process, please let me know.
thanx again 7:30.

the thing is, you CAN KEEP your original account. all we have to do is reset your password for you, and you can have it back. you can then update the email in it to one that you currently use. please let me know whether you'd like the old account back, as opposed to a new username with none of your history.

hey, thanks. I was able to log on as Orbital Fetus with the password you gave me. however, i cannot post or create threads...
Orbital Fetus, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. You may need to verify, or re-verify your email address with the Forums?
3. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
did you send me a confirmation e-mail so that i can get on fully? if so, to which e-mail? it was not sent to my optimum.net account because the user name i applied with was 0rbital-Fetus. 0 being a zero and a dash in between.
orbitalfetus@optimum.net is the e mail account that i would like my confirmation to be sent to. i hope this clears it all up.
thanks again for your help. you give mods a good name.

you should be okay now. i had to set you back into the activated users queue. if you tried to change your email address when you logged back in, and didn't confirm the email address change, that could have been the problem. hopefully we're done here now. happy posting.
