i bought a viper 571 remote starter and my car is a 2003 acura tl. How much did it cost you/y'all to have it installed. I know i need a bypass and valet key program.....im assuming its gonna be 150 to 200$

i dont know if you JUST purchased your starter - i have had mines for several years, but have purchased them as gifts many times - but what i have found is that as you get closer to christmas, a lot of the big box retailers that sell them will include installation with the purchase of some kits. im willing to bet since you've chosen a relatively pricey model that you can find someone that will install it for you. i would go to the circuit city or best buy in your town to see which models may include installation and possibly return the kit you've already purchased - unless youre specifically attached to the brand you bought.
i was curious once to see how easy/difficult installation would be if you did it on your own, and i think if you're mechanically inclined it would not be overly difficult, but msot of the instructions ive seen suggest you have some soldering equipment and as always anytime you're dealing with electrical wiring you have the chance of fukking something up pretty vicious. also there are a few parts that need to be mounted in the interior of the car, etc.

i swore off best buy's for another reason, but i had purchased kits from them in the past (w/installation) for friends/family and i dont think theyve ever had problems. not that it couldn't happen - but i think if you go to a retailer, at least you have some recourse if they fuk up. i think in your case, since you purchased it online you probably got a really good deal on it anyways - so paying someone extra probably gets you to whatever you may have paid anyways.
to be honest, i dont see why it would cost 150-200. even if you were to take it to the acura/honda dealership, the labor costs would be around 75-80/hr. i dont think installing this is a 2 hour process.

ive heard stories about how that sh!t fux up your engine, so i havent really fukked with it ...atleast with me having an old car ..
i'd probably get an autostarter with a brand new whip though ...sometimes when its cold in the morning i always regret not getting one
are they really worth it?

Some cars come w/ them these days.
I'd say you're lookin' at an easy $150 for that to be installed. I wish I had one, but I always leave my car in first gear.

if youre that concerned with it messing with ur engine, you should probably do some research to see if there is a higher probability of issues with your particular brand/year. that being said, it is probably one of my favorite all time purchases (think on the same level as the foreman grill in college). having lived all of my adult life in cold climates, there is NOTHING better than gliding in a toasty car interior when its freezing outside.

with all the bells and whistles cars come with nowdays, I wonder why this isn't a factory installed option for many cars. esp if u live somewhere cold like I do. a remote starter is a great thing. not that I have ever had one myself.

Naw, they dont fuk up your engine. Thier is a relay that engauges the starter nothing to do with the engine. They do work better with fuel injected cars thou

no doubt!! I leave my keys next to the alarm clock, hit the remote start then hit the snooze button :D
