View Full Version : Best Indie/Garage Rock albums of 08?
I need something new... I'm still stuck listening to The Strokes 3 albums, Bloc Party's first album and both of Arctic Monkey's joints...
anything good and comparable to that?

I was actually wondering about this last night, trying to download new stuff. I've been listening to a lot of The Hives and Arctic Monkeys as well.
Try these
Death Set - Worldwide
Late of the Pier - Fantasy Black Channel
Housse De Racket - 40 Love
There are many, many more out there. That's just a cursory glance through my nano

I saw these dudes at Virginfest in September and they were awful.
MGMT - oracular spectacular
downloaded this... much more electronic... not the sound I was looking for per se...

i bet, i really can't see them reproducing the sound of their album on stage

Check out the 2008 music thread and you'll probably find some interesting sh*t. I have a top 10 list posted there around the recent pages

if you like the strokes, check out interpol. I'm not sure if they've come out w/ anything recently though
Be Your Own Pet - Get Awkward (shame they broke up after this one)
Black Kids - Partie Traumatic (awesome album, too bad pitchfork pretty much killed their buzz without the courtesy of a proper review)
Deerhoof - Offend Maggie (conversely Friend Opportunity which is from 2006)
Dukes of Windsor - Minus (essentially ignored a week after its release, it's still a decent offering. check No Disguise, Evil Woman & It's A War - if you like those, check the rest)
Graham Coxon - Love Travels At Illegal Speed
Grinderman - Grinderman (more hard rock but very very good)
Housse De Racket - Forty Love
Lightspeed Champion - Falling Off The Lavender Bridge
Some of this stuff veers into pop, some into electronica but I'm sure you'll like something off it
