Silence a growling stomach with these satisfying options, courtesy of Men's Health nutrition advisor Jonny Bowden, Ph.D. Each offers a hunger-fighting dose of protein, along with fiber or fat, to help keep you full for hours after you've eaten.

1. Almonds
Along with 6 grams of protein, a handful (1 ounce) of almonds contains almost 9 grams of healthy mono-unsaturated fat.

2. Oatmeal
You can thank the 4 grams of fiber in a 1-cup serving for this breakfast staple's stick-to-your-ribs quality.

3. Salmon
A 3.5-ounce serving contains 22 grams of protein and is a top source of omega-3 fats.

4. Quinoa
Quinoa cooks up like any grain, but it contains the same type of muscle-building protein found in eggs and meat. For 10 ways to prepare quinoa, go to MensHealth.com/quinoa.

5. Black Beans
All legumes provide a ton of nutrients, but black beans lead the pack with equal amounts of protein and fiber—15 grams in a cup. They're a great addition to almost any salad.

i try to like almonds but damnit i just can't stomach them. put them on salads, almond crusted fish but still.....

when i make oatmeal i use that spray butter stuff and maybe a teaspoon of sugar.

i buy the pink salmon in the sealed packets and mix it with some dijon mustard, it's good.

never had quinoa, but i been meaning to try it.

i eat black beans every now and then.

I have soooo many cans of black beans I need intervention. Stuff is crack to me. I smash granola like no other; that's the only way I can stomach oatmeal. It sucks...but I'm allergic to almonds and salmon.

how do you eat your black beans? do you season them?

and almonds are the best emergency night food. When I'm upstairs and get hungry I just grab a handful to fill me up

This is my problem as well. I think I could seriously cut a lot of things out of my diet if I was able to eat seafood. I can do without the nuts though.

Black beans are straight, but it depends on what brand. They are alright. Never tried quinoa before though, might have to try it.

Dry curd huh? I'ma see what that bid like. A fella be on that dairy thang for a hot minute, so we gon' see what it do.

But yeah, ain't nothing messin' with biting through the meat of an apple with the juice gushin' and/or squeezing the banana out the peel for a solid pre-workout snack.

You ever go for a drink of water at the communal gym spout and just let the aqua douse your face?

Don't even wipe off the excess drippage, just get up, walk away and let it descend from your face like you just got out of a holy-water sanctuary.

Girls walk by you and they like, "Dang! This guy be mad spiritually sexy!!!"

RE: Oatmeal...man, I try to like that stuff. I feel like I'ma horse while eating it though. Ppl tell me to try the flavored varieties but I feel like that's cheating.

beans and rice is that crack, i prefer kidney beans to black beans tho.

throw some cinnamon and/or brown sugar in your oatmeal. it's great.
