I have a workout plan. I was following a strict diet. Everything was good and I was feeling great. I shed 25-30lbs in 2.5 months and I was honestly in a shape that I hadnt been in a while!

Then I got comfortable. I gave up the diet and stopped working out (originally because I had hurt my shoulder, but then I just didnt get back into it)

Since then, i've tried to work out again, i've been repeating EVERYDAY that I should start jogging again, start lifting again.

I just can't get myself to it.

What do y'all do to keep yourselves motivated? How do you get yourself out of a slump?!

So I started working out on July 2nd, 2008. It's because I moved intoa building with a gym...it's on the 2nd floor...so I have no damn excuses. I've been working out ever since...3 to 5 times a week. I, believe it or not, haven't weighed myself yet but I was a size 48" and now I'm almost a 42". I'm trying to get down to 38". So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that's my goal. That's what keeps me going...after I get to 38" I'm going to have to think of another goal. So maybe that's what you need. Goals seem simple and so obvious but you need to have a goal because that's your target.

I guess im kind of an underacheiver that way.

I set a goal. I'll reach it. But once I reach it, I'm content. And then I become lazy. Honestly, after reading your post, It's made me realize that i've been this way with virtually everything I get myself into.

Lol, it sounds simple enough. But oddly enough, ive never looked at it that way. Once you reach your goal, set another one?

yep. i'm pretty fit, but i get bored with things i'm good at.. so i keep switching it up... it used to be running 5ks every morning and abs.. now its pole dancing and boxing.. i think its a life thing too, cause i'm pretty much a control freak and don't take failure easy, so getting into exercises i'm not used to and challenging myself keeps me motivated.. and if that fails, i just play the victorias secret dvd over and over again and i'm right..:):)

For me, I set one huge goal in the beginning (one that's long term) and continue to set smaller goals as I travel my path to where I want to be. High school and college sports have also taught me discipline I couldn't learn anywhere else.

Basically, if you're meeting your short term goal and finding it hard to continue then you need to give yourself a long term goal you can always work for.
