View Full Version : I miss that 90's Grunge alternative shiiit...
Nirvana
Pearl Jam
Stone Temple Pilots
Soundgarden
Alice in Chains
etc...
Since the death of grunge I just could not get into rock anymore. I can't get with all this rap/rock Linkin Park shiit and all these softer sounding post-grunge alternative... Since grunge died, I pretty much stopped checking for new rock music. And now that I find (new) hip-hop ridiculously boring and repetitive, I wanted start listening to some rock, but I have no idea where to start. There seems to be so many different subgenres now...
I still like Radiohead... my homie put me on to Mars Volta and I thought it was pretty dope...
Can yall put me on to some good rock shiit? My ears are feening for some good music... Appreciate yall input.

I Hated that 90's grunge ****, the only bands I Liked were alice in chains, soundgarden and Pearl Jam, the rest especially the most overrated band of all time, nirvana just plain sucked.
It brought a revolution in music alright, to ****ty bands and rock genres to come
(**** Limp Bizkit and Nu Metal it sucked).

no the popularity of grunge did more good than bad..limp bizkits aint no grunge shyt or even close. they are probably even more hiphop than grunge...they are a rapping metallica...
grunge helped popularize genres like "brit pop" , "shoegazing", "stoner rock", "sludge metal", "alt country", general underappreciated inde rock etc....all of which are dope..

But it also ruined rock too paving way for the trashy bands
and grunge was also the ancestor of nu metal/pop punk and other terrible rock genre. as well.
It changed rock for the worse.
Thankfully I Was into heavy d when this genre came out.
Thank god the darkness came into the scene and ended the alternative rock era once and for all.

wow
ok u hate grunge because it helped popularize some genres that are wack. but it actually helped popularize a greater amount of good genres...you should focus more on the quality of grunge music rather than what it did in pop culture...

I listen to some of it, but the rest just plain sucked, it started a horrible revolution in rock and the beginning of the end for american music.
and most of why just plain sucks now a days.

Cult of Luna are great, I'm still so happy I've seen them live, their stage performance is one to be seen and felt. I've also seen live Tia Carrera, Earthless and Taint among many others at the last Roadburn festival, patiently awaiting the next one in 2009 when Orange Goblin will play together with Neurosis, the Atomic Bit**wax, Cathedral, Colour Haze, Mono, Ufomammut, and many many others
