I got a couple of books on the go at the moment, and I would like to post them here. So here it goes-
Onfrey- In defense of Atheism (really approachable book, and it sticks it to religion well and truly)
Chomsky- Failed states (America's quest for world domination)
Plato- Republic (this is pretty crap, I don't like Plato reasoning at all, but i thought I would read this classic anyway)
Machiavelli- The Prince (A book of common sense really, but insightful, it was good to read this and the Republic at the same time- the contrast really shows, Machiavelli the ultimate realist)
Nietzsche- Beyond good and Evil ( I'm struggling getting through this, probably not the best book to pick up if you don't know much about philosophy)
Shakespeare- Julius Caesar ( This was an awesome play, very easy to understand with good rhetoric 'friends, romans, countrymen etc)
I'm nearly done with most of those, soon I shall be starting a new cycle with new books -
Homer- illiad and Odysee (this make take a while to read, haven't started it, but the books huge)
Chaucer- Canterbury tales ( not quite sure which one i'll read yet. I may get the slutty wife of bath, or maybe get a best of and decide from there)
Shakespeare (I got his complete works for only £5, I shall decide a new play to read)
Plato- Socrates trials (I'm looking forward to this one, hopefully it will be better then the Republic)
Any one got any really good non-fiction books they would recommend?

(http://www.amazon.com/Story-O-Pauline-Reage/dp/0345301110/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/002-5313904-1415246?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1194225858&sr=1-1) (i have it but haven't read it yet) and it's based on the author's own experiences. it's definitely increased my curiosity about that lifestyle

I just reread Eldridge Cleaver's Soul On Ice, and its even deeper and more intelligent than when I first read it in high school. If you werent aware that this Panther member and counter culture icon was an intellect first and foremost, pick this up.
Its structured as a collection of his personal writings and letters during his imprisonment in his teens and twenties, where he took a keen interest in self education. You dont have to read it front to back, but if you're into black literature read his critiques of some of the authors of the day, black and white, and what he has to say about there psychology. Very interesting voice, and still valid and applicable in many ways I would say.

A Place Where The Sea Remembers, The Earth, My Butt, and other Big Round Things(finished in 2 hours.), Burger Wuss, Cupcake...and I'm about to start Notes from the Teenage Underground.
I really shouldn't be reading so many books at a time...but I've became addicted to reading every since I came to a realization that there was no more Harry Potter's coming out..
I'm starting to notice alot of the books I have been reading has date rape in it. :guilty:
Edit: A Place Where The Sea Remembers: Pissed me the **** off. It was kind of like that movie crash whereas each chapter was a different person, and their different views on life, but in the end all the characters kind of came together. But what got me was they basically let the girls son die in a river...didn't even try to help him...just sat and watched.
Burger Wuss: Extremely simptastic. Dude goes out of his way to get revenge on someone and gets beat the fukk up numerous times, and at the end the girl still doesn't want him.
Notes from the Teenage Underground: See blog.
Cupcake: Starting Sunday.

So now I'm reading
"What Is The What" by Dave Eggers. I don't know if Im not focused enough or what but the beginning so far is a little slow. Liked heartbreaking work of a staggering genius by him so Im gonna see how it turns out .
