jeru's sun rises, the singles and the run to the album, is one of the last ny maguns opus. i would also,..say that this album came out in 1994, and honestly is the classic that should be touted as album of the year. that is in 1994, when illmatic, and bigge, and common was out to. so in all actuality this record is one of those unphuckwitable masterpieces. that if you could recreate the equal a way to update it and make it current still wasn't phuckin with just the

Sun Rises has a few songs I never listen to because of production I would describe as atypical, and failed experiments on DJ Premier's part. Not that it isn't a great album, because it is, but I wouldn't say it's any better than some of the albums mentioned like Soul on Ice, The Chronic or 93 Til Infinity.

I respect your opinion, but soi will always be better than jeru's shyt to me.

jeru got props cuz of primo. when primo got washed up (wrath of math) jeru couldnt make shyt. jeru as an mc is just overrated, to me. ill take the green-eyed bandit over him in a second.

come clean is a great song, but Ill honestly take any song off soi over it. whats amazing is that while come clean is classic primo, soi didnt have anyone on the boards worth mentioning besides battlecat.

the fact that ras himself produced many of the songs on SoI and still made it into a masterpiece tells me something. he basically crafted his own, dark album that is completely personal and individual.
jeru just lacks that individuality on his album.

take away primo and all you're left with is a slightly different rhyme scheme/delivery, the only thing that distinguishes jeru from the rest of ny's mcs at the time

and re shelf life, 93 ti (the song) has the most shelf life out of all of these albums/tracks were discussing.
