cypress hill definitely deserved to be honored. if you were around when they first came out you should know this. they had everybody's attention for 2 summers straight.

the thing i like about these honors is that there is no set criteria for being honored. de la got honored for their risky creativity. they only had 1 hit record. big daddy kane had no hit records. slick rick only had 1 hit. missy got honored, she was no de la, or kane, or rick - but she puts out hits back to back to back to back to back. she probably has more hits than all the honorees combined. whether you like a certain rapper or not, at the end of the day its all rap music
