you've missed my point, even with your "as far as" specifications, Jay is still who he is at whatever subject you choose because of a series of events, contacts and decisions he's made in his life. That shyt just don't happen because of any one thing.

what a rediculous statement... but since you're reaching... warren g wouldn't have a def jam machine to push him if not for the east coast label itself...

that label wouldnt have existed if it werent for warren dropping regulate.def jam was dead when he dropped his album.damn near single handedly brought it back to life.
def jam in 94 was no mans land.
its not really a reach.
The effects of crack cocaine ripple beyond the decades of urban decay of inner-city life, apparently, i can log unto SOHH and see it for myself with threads such as this one

You don't have your facts straight, although it's true that Warren G brought some life back to Def Jam, it was actually in danger of folding before the album dropped, but PolyGram bought Sony's 50% stock in the company THEN warren G dropped. And I wouldn't say Def Jam was a "no mans land" either, don't forget in early 94 Onyx was still going strong off their platinum debut and later in the year Meth and Redman earned plaques too for "Tical" and "Dare Iz..."
Basically your arguement holds no weight, especially if your using the bullshyt laws of transitive property to somehow relate Warren G to Jays success.

LL did hold down def jam in the 80s.
but def jam was about to fold before they did a joint venture with warren g and he went 3 x plat.
this has already been established that warren saved def jam
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Def_Jam_Recordings#cite_note-1
By 1992, despite recent multi-platinum selling releases from LL Cool J., Public Enemy, and EPMD, Def Jam ran into severe financial troubles and was faced with folding. Salvation came in 1994, however, when PolyGram purchased Sony's 50% stake in Def Jam Recordings — subsequently bringing the label into their fold. Following PolyGram’s acquisition of the company, Def Jam released Warren G's Regulate... G Funk Era, which went triple platinum and effectively revived the label.[2]

take away warrens album and what do you have?
if def jam woulda folded(which is why it was being bought up) before jigga even dropped an album.do you think he would been president at the label?

Can you read? Let me show you what you should have highlighted from your own quote:
"Salvation came in 1994, however, when PolyGram purchased Sony's 50% stake in Def Jam Recordings — subsequently bringing the label into their fold. Following PolyGram’s acquisition of the company, Def Jam released Warren G's Regulate... G Funk Era, which went triple platinum and effectively revived the label."
I highlighted Salvation and revived so you can look up the meaning of the words, when you do you will understand the Def Jam was saved from folding BEFORE Warren G ever dropped. Nobody is going to deny it was his year but to say he saved the label is just dumb, especially when you put up a quote that refutes your own theory.
