im tired of these gas prices (my gs300 is killing me !) but i dont want one of fruity looking hybrids. the new jetta looks like a good mix of fuel efficiency (25mpg reg, 40mpg in the diesel version) and luxury.
here are some pics

I dont see anything wrong with it, I would push it as an everyday car since it gets good gas mileage, just wouldnt put rims or anything else on that thing...5% tints, HIDS, navi & i'm good...

jettas don't have the option of HID lights tho I dont think. anyways, my question is about the gas mileage. y does the diesel car get so much better mileage? and if so, y don't they make all cars in diesel?
I almost bought a jetta instead of my first acura back in 2001.

theres a large number of cars that are diesel but they are mostly european. USA car companies will probably jump on the wave soon enough.
i doubt i will find a diesel jetta left, any1 would have already snatched it up if they had the chance.

I actually talked this girl into getting one, well recommended it for her lease. The payment was super affordable, it came with alot of features, its safe and the gas mileage is pretty good. She got it yesterday and it extremely satisfied with it.
She got a SE model

the diffrence is a diesel is a very high compresson engine and diesel has a very low flash point witch means it takes alot for it to burn and when it does it burns for a long time. The only thing about diesel is that now in some places its more expensive than regular gasoline. So a hybrid would be cheaper to operate and maintain, a diesel is higher maintenance.

here diesel is typically like low to mid $4 range. so its not much different that unleaded as far as price. but when ur talking the difference between 25 and 40 mpg, thats a 60% increase. so given the cost of fuel isn't 60% more for diesel, ur winning. thats given the car overall isn't more costlier with a diesel engine, and the maintenence isn't crazy.

most cars get 25 - 30 on the highway. i should be able to get more than 21.

The diesel version is a Guinness Book record holder http://www.autoblog.com/2008/09/30/vw-jetta-tdi-sets-guinness-world-record-for-u-s-gas-mileage-at/

Get the diesel. It won't give as many headaches as the gas engines VW offers.
All you need to do is lower it.

I considered a jetta, an 08, but I knew nothing about them. So I went with my heart and got an Altima almost exactly how I wanted it. If you do get an altima, get the 3.5. I couldn't get a 3.5 cause no where in the city had anymore...
My next car will have a v6 engine. For that reason I would consider the new max...but gonna be a long time away because I plan on buying my next car cash.

If you're gonna get a jetta why not get a toyota corrolla instead. They both look the same in my opinion, but the corrolla gets better gas milage, its cheaper, and it won't fall apart like VW's tend to do. VW has the style of a peoples car with the lack reliability of a luxury brand...
I like the way it drives, feels too cramped though...it also doesn't warrant that $30G price tag.
