I dunno too much about prog to begin with, but saying Tool is the greatest band of any genre to me is a bit of a stretch.. Opiate and Undertow are cool though, I'll admit that.. I couldn't really get into their later stuff, pretty much anything (APC included) after Aenima...

Have you ever heard of Dream Theater? Queensryche?

i'ma go with pink floyd, if they count...since you guys seemed to have named more prog-metal type of bands.

Who could forget Pink Floyd? They pretty much invented the concept.

But I guess it all depends on your definition of "progressive".

tool is the best rock band of our generation, honestly.

they are the only bad other than opeth, that i feel artistically and sonically take the socalled progressive genre to the next level.

maynard, is my favorite frontman, and tool is my favorite band, as well...i have other favorites like nin, SOD, deftones and others as well.

but yet and still tool is the end all be all when it comes to this generation, imo.

man,...just list the people who are supposedly on tools level, that are in this generation.

especially when we talk about the vids, that only alice in chains come close to even scratching the surface of.

so please music wise list these bands.

art barr

already knows said list doesn't exist and unless he mentioning some opeth, floyd, beatles[later in career western influenced sh1t], that no one in this generation comes close. anyone tryin to even get close is biting like chevelle, and the other wack groups who bite tools entire schtick damn near word for word, melody for melody, rift for rift.

ain't no band in the last whatever in rock, that even has an album even close to lateralus,...let alone anemia.

he doesn't have an arguement because there is no reasonable argument that exist.

i'm probably the biggest nin fan on this board, but yet and still the love i got for trent and whoever is the company doesn't go as far as tool does.

tool is the next level that rap should be at and it isn't.

honestly they also have the best mixed records since my bloody valentine as well.

only dre at larabee, has equivalent material sonically, and even then tool blows dre outta the water, too.

I get it, u guys like Tool.. I'm just stating my opinion.. Like I already said, I don't know too much about the progressive genre to begin with, but Tool just doesn't do it for me.. I'm not gonna argue with yall and say "Well, this band is better", or "This band is sonically and musically more genius than Tool could ever possibly hope to be" type shiit.. Naw, that ain't my style.. I know what I like, and Tool ain't it.. And as far as them releasing those type of singles and what not, I would hope that any band that's been in the game as long as they have could gain some clout and do whatever they want.. 1
