View Full Version : The healthiest meats?
I know nothing about diet or health food. But i'm gonna try to lose weight. I love to eat! And I got to have meat (i'm including fish with meat and i'm not a big seafood eater) and bread.
I'm already starting to eat just wheat bread...but what about the meat? What should I stick to?

I usually stick with tuna, salmon, turkey and chicken for my lean meats. There's probably some other good stuff out there, but I keep it basic.
With your bread, make sure you're actually getting whole grains and not just some white bread colored brown lol.

I do, just try not to often. It's definitely hard, I love some damn bacon or something in the morning for breakfast. Like everything though it's all about moderation. Try to ween yourself off the red meats and treat yourself occasionally.

Well coming from a vegan I would tell you avoid red beef altogether just eat white meat but no so much maybe 3 or 4 times a week. Your still at a risk to get high cholesterol but if you want to lose weight i suggest you not fall into those fad diets and try a full body detox from dherbs.com. I know you prolly like "this dude stay posting some bs" but yo just read the full body detox article I can't comment on how good it is.

if you're just trying to lose weight then the only thing you need to pay attention to is how lean the meat is.
pork is generally the fattiest of meats. chicken, turkey, and any type of fish is generally the most lean.
beef is fine, just buy the most lean beef possible (like 3% fat) its gonna be pricey though.
really though, i eat all meats. protein is more important to me then anything. i only eat a few slices of bacon in the morning w/ my breakfast, so just eat pork in moderation.

I'm still trying to lose weight and I've already taken the step. I used to eat a lot of ground beef, but I barely touch red meat anymore (the occasional steak or lamb chop). I actually eat a lot of ground turkey and love grilled chicken. I'm not a big fish guy.
Meat isn't that unhealthy, certainly not to the extent some vegetarians would have you think.
Personally, I don't eat pork and rarely eat beef. I eat lots of seafood and chicken tho.
I have to admit I have a weakness for fried food, but I do use canola oil (which is low in saturated fat). Other than that I eat plenty of lean meat.

they have an agenda...so most of the shiit they spew is propaganda.
mankind has had plenty of successful diets, from carnivorous to herbivorous and everything in between. we've been doing pretty well on it so far.

well, the case can be made that most meat we eat is from unhealthy nasty animals.
it would be different if we were hunting game and eating fit animals..not some pumped up sedentary caged up mass produced cattle
you are what you eat..right?
anyways..Fish is good..the EFA's are great for your you. Chicken is fairly lean but i dont really like eating chicken, too dry for me. Pork is ok, but I tend to stay away from it as its harsh on the digestive system and leaves me bloated. Turkey is cool, but dont have any for lunch that tryptophan will slow ya ass down..Beef is ok too, but again you gotta question the quality of the meat your eating.

whatchu know about bison. 30 grams of protein per serving
"Not only is bison meat a rich source of protein, it also is very low in fat, containing roughly 2 percent fat per serving, and only 66 mg of cholesterol per serving."

My brother worked with a guy whose family owned an ostrich ranch, the ostrich patties are actually really good.

Same as the way disillusioned carnivores spew that protein propaganda...

you can always go for organic meat, it costs more but is chemical free.
