Im just gonna keep it 100 with ya............I had a 97 S model, had it for 3 yrs. I bought the car cash for $6500, in the 3 yrs I had it, I would have to say I spent an extra $4000 just keeping her running. the parts are SOOOOOOOOOO FUKKIN EXPENSIVE, a water pump ran me over $400, needed to replace a couple of tensiors that were about $300 each, just ridicuolus amounts of money. Now, the S model comes with a supercharger, the car CANNOT run without the supercharger, and they are infamous for going out. If you need to replace the supercharger, your left with 3 options, just let the car sit there, cause it sure aint goin anywhere without a working supercharger, 2. buy a new supercharger which will cost you $4000, or 3. have the supercharger rebuilt which will cost you $2000. Another thing, with the S model you MUST use Premium gasoline, if not ur cars FUKKED, and u know how gas prices are these days.

Dont get me wrong I LOVED the car, but I just got tired of having to replace something every month or 2 months. You'll find this website helpful if you want to know more about the car, or horror stories about the car here

What u mean????

The format is outdated, but everything u NEED to know is there, that place helped me out on so many occasions, dont get me wrong the car is great WHEN its running. I test drove both the L model and the S model, and I just couldnt see myself driving the L, it was just too slow, even though its far more cheaper to maintain than the L, and gives u less problems. How many miles does the one ur looking at have????

And let me not even tell you about Check Engine lights, and passing inspection and all that sh!t. The car could never pass inspection cause of the emissions sh!t. Which meant I had to replace my catalic convertors or some sh!t like that. Theres 3 on that car, went to a few places and the cheapest estimate I got was for about $3000. I said FUKK that, went to the liquor store by my house, the owner their was selling Inspection Stickers for $75, just had to give him the Vin# and model, 2 days later my car had "passed" inspection, had to do that every year.

I searched for info on Mazda Millenia and keep running into the "its too expensive to maintain" complaint

apparently it had a reputation as a car you keep for 3-4 years and then sell before all the problems come around

I wasnt looking at one in particular

That Miller cycle engine..... it was a nice experiment, but it ultimately failed.

Mazda stays trying w/ these odd engines.... they even had to extend the warranty on the RX-8 (Rotary engine).

I wouldn't do it. They are nice looking cars but they had a lot of rare parts that weren't shared with other cars. Parts and labor are expensive and you'll need both.

Basically.

This might have well been a one off car. They didn't make it for many years at all.

Wouldn't buy it. It's a beautiful car...but parts are a betch....there aren't too many of these around too..so 2nd hand parts will be at a premium as well...the inside of that betch is nice though.
