This beat sounds like a mix between Kanye & Ryan Leslie...I think it would sound good if you mixed up the drums a bit...and maybe dropped out that main melody once or twice...I like this though

man, I don't even consider it a west coast synth no more, cuz it's pretty much a staple in my "composed beats". I use Nexxus and it's just random leads that I click on and go with. A good synth sound with a legato setting is all you really need.

I think Dre was using a recorder sound, though, at first.
