Every boxer weight trains, however you must consult your trainer and be careful - as you need to find your own perfect balance, too much fat slows you down, too much muscle slows you down and causes you too run out of energy quickly. Its unlikely you will be power-lifting, speed, reflexes and accuracy are whats important in boxing - not strength.
When you are fighting a southpaw you must remember this:
-Your left jab will be highly ineffective, so use it less.
-Instead, position your left to the right of his right foot and hit with a hook.
-Get your right in a position straight infront of his face/body, and hit hard, mainly with a cross but mix it up with an uppercut.
Thats it, keep it simple. Dont try and outbox a southpaw, because your instincts have been learnt in fighting an orthodox, as have theirs. Meaning you are out of your element, they are in it. Just left hook (odd jab), straight right (odd uppercut).

Look at this fight and what Kostya Tszyu does as the perfect template for how to fight a southpaw.

Like I said - keep it simple.

keep your right hand UP and tight to your head. If he is any good he will use his straight left and jam you in the face anytime you come in.
Circle to his right, which is your left....and then reverse..then back again..So your switching up the angles that your coming at him with..
When you throw the jab..keep your right hand tight to your face for defense

im not sure about the lifting aspect. I would think you CAN do lifting and boxing on the same day, but personally I would not do it..Unless your in crazy shape..The 2 would counteract with eachother..but Im just going out on a limb here
