i mean i respect him as a legend and what hes done for the rap game for over 20 years....but honestly...this ***** is not THAT nice like people say he is. the in da club beat aint THAT fire like people say it is...and as a rapper...why do people actl ike hes a great rapper hes been using ghostwriters his whole career...thats like listening to diddy
Yeah i can see what you're saying.
Everyone wants detox, but everyone song will be written by someone else, the beats will probably be made up by the majority of his producing team and i dont see the big deal.
He's still a legend tho.

Who Cares, Its Doc Drizzle.
you praise him for the 20 years of classicness then sh!t on him because the "in da club" beat aint that nice and from that you're convinced he's overrated? hmm, 20 years of fire on one side, the "In Da Club" beat not bein that nice on the other. yeah, im gonna say the in da club beat not bein that nice holds more weight than a whole library of classics, he overrated. in da club >>>> straight outta compton, the chronic and doggystyle importance wise. damn dre, step ya game up you ol Creatine shoulders havin ass n!gga.

Word. When In Da Club dropped I gotta say I was diggin that ish, but when I really sat down and listened to the beat, it ain't really anything special. Like I prefer the lean back beat over in da club, but in da club was just a dope joint wit 50 on it. I don't wanna say Dre is overrated cuz dude has made hits and classic beats....but lately I haven't really heard anything astonishing and I'm hoping he will bring back that old fire..
no; i think he's wack compared to organised noise and the neptunes
dre = prick; never supported anyone; he's a selfish dikkhead

Well said.
Plus just because *YOU* think In Da Club's beat was overrated doesn't make it so. I bet there is a million people who disagree. I believe it is the biggest mainstream hip hop single to date.
To be fair though I think his beats over the last few years have been average (save a few here and there) but not mind blowing because Dre set the standards for himself so high. An average Dr Dre beat is still better then most producers best beats, just how I see it.

What new single?
I mean I haven't been listening to the radio a whole bunch lately but the last time I heard Nas on the radio out here was on the Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It Remix.
His single is not even the top 10 most spun in the area.....

I used to think this for a few years and Dre was behind Timbo/Neptunes for a while in book, but if you really listen to his sh1t on a good sound system it's ridiculous. Beats like Truck Volume/Holla are on another level from most sh1t.

Uhhhhhh. That's what a "producer" does, sorry. They produce. Dre may not push every MPC button himself, or play every key, but he RUNS the entire creative pocess behind every track. Every single sound in all of his beats as been created, and thought over for hours and hours. Dre is a producer's producer. He IS the expert. And he assembles the beat, whether he punches every button or not. I think you need to go look up the word producer, because it sure as hell isn't the same as beatmaker. Hip-hop fans pervert the meaning of producer so often it's embarassing.

Quote for Truth. Yes it's just ridiculous. There are some opinions that are just wrong. I mean so wrong that they shouldn't be allowed to be said. I think it should be a crimeto say Dr. Dre and overrated in the same sentence. The guy is one of the top producers of ALL TIME in ANY genre of music, let alone hip-hop. Two decades of greatness and respect from everyone in music, fan and producers/artists alike. Anyone who says Dre is overrated is a FUKING MORON...

Dre is the westcoast version of Diddy without such a high profile. if it wasn't for their ear for beats and talent the music game would be disgusting

he haven't been very prolific for all that longevity but when you listen to stuff like the chronic, no one can do it better you just can't front. dude set the bar very high for other hip hop producers
Nah Dre aint overrated..hes not the best right now tho
dre hasnt been a factor since 2004. 4 years ago. jermaine is more consistent than him.
if looking at all those dudes in the 90s i'd put and i've always put jd over dre..
jd the only dude who's a factor today.
but white america loves dre coz he put eminem on and will always put his name up there. far as n1ggaz go dre hasnt been a factor despite trying *tsk tsk* stat quo

Dre is a nice producer but people be actin like he's the best to have ever done it and shyt... He has great sound quality but I do think people overrate him as well.
do you mean jermaine dupri???? the guy who brung dem franchize boyz and rocko??? :gag::gag:
dre can even break stat quo and bishop lamont etc. at least jermaine breaks these dudes and their songs get air play.. what they do from there depends on how they themselves grind.
these other clown dre just gets these n1ggaz to write for him and put them in dept and contracts they cant get out of and gets rid of them.
yes jd brought us lil jon, j-kwon, nitti, the trackboyz, rocko, franchize, the kid slim, bonecrusher, youngbloodz :smoker:

Dre good at producing albums but his beats are a hit or miss. So in other words I agree with u.

I don't think anyone considers Dre a great rapper (himself included). I think he's capable of rapping, but he's never professed to be an incredible MC or anything. Even with his albums- I've never seen him say he was doing any of those to assert himself as a great rapper, his main focus on those albums is being the producer and the one putting the whole thing together.
As a producer, I think he's way more musical than most, I think he puts together SONGS moreso than "making a beat", I think he has a better understanding of how sh*t works better than most do... of course, he has some wack beats in his arsenal too (like anyone else), but if you listen to his best productions then listen to others, it's not that hard to tell why he gets the respect he gets.

yea he ain't really that great of a rapper, but only a retard or one of those f@ggots who only listen to underground rap would try to deny that his beats are dope as f-ck.
