i was wary about these cars being reintroduced back in early 07, especially as V8's. you think these cars will still have a market when they hit production? (outside of the car enthusiasts who probably wouldnt use these as their everyday vehicle anyway)

With the way gas is hiking up to $5/gallon, other than enthusiast and folks well off enuff not to be concerned at the pump, I don't see a grip load of folks buying these. If Dodge and Chevy want to move them to ppl who would use them as daily drivers, they better have some real nice financing incentives and get some damn good gas mileage.

Chevy was planning for most Camaro sales to be V6's anyway. and they said they weren't going to market it as a muscle car (which had a lot of Camaro enthusiasts upset at the time).

I still think they need to make the V8's. There's always going to be a market for something like that, albeit, it'll be smaller.

However, the gas mileage those cars can be capable of is rather impressive. Look at the Corvette, that car can still pull 30 on the highway in 6th gear. If things are done properly, the Camaro will be able to do that. I'm not sure what type of gearbox the new Challenger is going to get however. And I do know that Chevy's LS engines are more "economical" than the hemi.

the camaro is coming out with a 300hp v6 that gets 27 mpg...they will do just fine...

challenger was never meant to be a mass produced car...it is priced to the point where its simply meant for enthusiasts

I was thinking about buying either one next year, but the way prices are going, i might buy myself an ugly ass car that gets 50mpg

Pontiac need to bring back the Trans-AM and stop these fake ass G6 (Grand AM) coupes.

Dodge Challenger
Ford Mustang
Chevy Camaro
Pontiac Trans AM

And make a new Fiero as a hybrid, but to look like a mini Lambo.

Word is the dealers are gonna markup the V8 from $40,000 since there is a high demand. Its a classic car with limited production so I doubt its gonna have trouble selling.

damn, I never knew that bumble bee in transformers was a heavily modified GTO modified by Saleen.

I always thought it was an actual prototype.

:ugh:

Chrysler cannot afford to make low numbered vehicles. You'll see other variations of that vehicle. They only came out w/ the SRT8 first to create market appeal.

Saleen Builds Bumblebee

There was not a moving 2009 Camaro when the filming for Transformers was set to start. Although Saleen is typically known for building super fast Fords and the Saleen S7, the movie’s transportation coordinator, Steve Mann, knew that Saleen could build the best production movie cars possible.

Bumblebee started its life as a Pontiac GTO, the vehicle that most closely matched the size of the new Camaro. The GTO also had an adequately sized V8 engine that would work well as a like power plant to the new Camaro.

“Basically, it was reverse engineered by our build team,” says Bryan Chambers, general manager at Saleen’s Troy facility. “We were given some data and some selections and wheelbase drawings by GM. Then we cut and cobbled from there.”

Saleen builders cut the body of the GTO down to the floor boards, even removing the rocker panels and replacing them with steel tubing that would eventually make up the structure of the Camaros. This was done to alter the car, while maintaining its structural integrity.

The first running 2009 Camaro concept took Saleen just 30 days to complete, and both were done in less than 45.

the camaro and challenger are :smoker:

kinda off topic.... are rims supposed to kill gas mileage? i went from getting 22-24 mpg to getting like 17 mpg with rims. :smh:

yeah thats why when you buy them and your worried about mpg you want to look at how much they weigh and what kind of material its made out of. some rims are more iron cast than chrome
