its kinda tough because you really dont know ANYTHING about nutrition.

i strongly suggest you start out on a basic caloric deficit diet. your weight *12 should be about how many calories a day you should be eating (may need to be adjusted depending on how much you workout). but use a site like fitday and enter in everything you eat everyday.

after a few months of that you'll get a good idea of what foods contain x amount of calories, x grams of fat/protein/carbs, and you can effectively dabble in some of the more complicated diets.

and the reason some people say dont eat tuna everyday is because of mercury poisoning. out of the hundreds of people i talk to that do this, i only know of 1 that claims to have actually gotten mercury poisoning. its not even that bad. you just feel lethargic...then you take a few weeks off from ingesting mercury, and you're normal again.

so is eating tuna everyday ok?....cause that shyt is like the best & easiest way to get protein. 65 grams in a can. it seems like you should be eating that everyday. and what about bread?...and whole eggs vs egg whites?.....and yea, i don't know jack shyt about nutrition. all these terms & shyt, and then i get conflicting advice, and i'm like fukk it. i'ma just eat whatever the fukk i want. and even though i do, i'm still pretty tone. and i know if i really focued and got on a real diet, i could be ripped as hell. so that's what i'm tryin to do now. i'm really tryin to get healthy.

i eat tuna everyday. its a great source of lean protein...i havent had any problems yet.

the thing about bread is that you want most of your calories to come from protein, not carbs. so bread is fine in moderation, as well as stuff like brown rice and oatmeal. try to get your carbs from whole grain sources.

eggs have a lot of fat in them, so people turn to egg whites. eggs are fine though since the fat they contain is healthy omega 3's. just remember to factor it in. a regular egg is like 60 calories while an egg white is like 24 calories.

and a whole egg is like 6 grams of protein. so what about just an egg white?...does it have the same protein?

and i seen that you said you should be eating 12x body weight in calories?....that seems like a lot to me. i don't even think i eat that much in a day. i'd probably start gaining weight if i ate that much. it's not that i eat a lot, it's that i eat the wrong things. i only eat two meals a day, but those two meals could be the most unhealthiest shyt ever. a bacon burger for breakfast and a bacon burger for dinner. with soda & fries. just horrible. i don't really gain weight. i've pretty much stayed at the same weight for years. i've just always had that flab on me cause i eat whatever i want. but now i'm just tryin to get rid of it all. no bullshyt. i ran for the first time in a long while yesterday and i almost had a heart attack. i was gonna do a lap around my apartment complex, i didn't even make it halfway. i felt like i was gonna faint & shyt. and i'm skinny....if people seen me they'd think i'm healthy.

What are your current goals and what are your long distance goals. From that point you should determine your requirements. There are so many diets out there that work but the fact is. Calories in vs calories out = weight loss, and mass gain as well.

no, the yolk is usually half the protein

well right now, i just wanna shed the extra fat off me. i'm actually gonna start running now. hopefully get to 1 mile first. then one day i hope to be running 3-4 miles per day. but at the same time, i wanna stay muscular & keep getting stronger. i don't wanna be lean, ripped, & scrawny. i wanna be lean, ripped, & built. i'm already basically at the weight range i wanna be at...maybe like 5 pounds over. the only thing is i'm out of shape. been eatin horrible, my muscles aint as developed as they used to be. i just started working out again last week after a 2 month layoff. but now i'ma do it right. i'm gonna gonna lift, eat healthy, and i'm also gonna run. i never used to run at all. so even when i was getting stronger & bigger i still had that flabby, bulky look. i don't want that anymore. i want to be ripped.

i buy fat free egg product, so i just alter my serving size to meet how much protein i want in my breakfast.. all the extra calories in an egg comes from fat. i believe your average large egg is 6g protein, 5g fat. salt and pepper is fine. instead of butter, use non stick spray, butter flavor.

its a general formula thats been proven to work for most, so try it out for a month. if nothing happens, then cut out 200 calories and try that for 2 weeks, then another 200, etc. the problem is the more of a caloric deficit, the more prone you are to losing muscle as well as fat. and if you do that, you'll just look like a skinnier version of yourself, with the same muscle definition, which means you'll look worse.

looking at your diet right now you eat like 2600 calories a day (1000 for each burger, 400 for the fries, 150 for the soda). if you weigh 170lbs that drops it down to 2000 calories. and now you'll be getting it from healthy sources, and you should eat 5-6 smaller meals instead of 2, which will increase your metabolism.

ok now what if i do eat 12 times my body weight, but then i run and burn off 400 calories?....do i need to eat something to make up for it?.....and also, what is an example of a small healthy meal?....a bowl of rice?....a can of tuna?....

on the days you run 3+ miles i would eat more carbs. maybe 200 calories worth.

if you're not going to run at least 3 miles dont worry about it. i eat lean protein at every meal. for breakfast i'll have egg product and turkey bacon. 2nd meal might be a can of tuna. 3rd meal might be a can of pink salmon. 4th meal a protein shake. 5th meal baked chicken w/ veggies. on days i eat more carbs i'll throw in a couple of whole grain bagels. i'll also eat a few tablespoons of natural peanut butter depending on how i feel.

alright. so i need 12 times my body weight in calories. and also 1-1.5 my body weight in protein, correct?....can i just eat whatever i want to meet those goals?....that's one thing i've always wondered. people always have a diverse bunch of meals in a day. what if i just ate rice & tuna the entire day, but still met both my protein & calorie goals, would that be fine?....does it really matter how much you eat of a certain product?...or is is it best to switch it up.

and also is boxed fish ok?.....like the shyt you put in the freezer and make in the microwave. and also, oatmal....are we talkin about flavored oatmeal, or just straight up raw oatmeal, no flavor or nothin.

I use cooking spray, non fat,canola/olive oil also...seasoning is salt and pepper.

I eat whole eggs myself, but you can use mostly whites and eat a few yolks...I usually make 5-6 eggs to eat at once
