View Full Version : WAYNE is SALTY about the MIXTAPE GAME, cause he really ain't EATING ON CASH MONEY inc

that's the truth of the matter....
and u ain't gotta listen to Gilly to get the understanding of it.
his deal with Cash Money Records allows all his payouts and profits from recordings to be recouped by Cash Money Records i.e (baby , slim) and UNIVERSAL RECORDS.
He only gets compensated with Cars, Jewelry and property which is still in Baby's name (some daddy huh )
He doesn't own his masters...i repeast HE DOESN'T OWN HIS MASTERS..so in essence he is a slave.
This man tours CONSTANTLY on the CHITLIN CIRCUIT....that doesn't sound like someone who got big bread, he shouldn't have to work that damn hard...
unless he has what Jay-Z said.."u only got SHOW DOUGH, that's little to know DOUGH, sold a couple of records but you STILL OWE DOUGH"
Wayne has performed 3 times in the past 2 years at this hole in the wall club here in my city, it's funny cause he doesn't even get the best accomadiations when he comes here, everytime he gets booked to stay at this busted ass Hilton Hotel downtown which just caught FIRE...again last week!!!
funny how you didn't hear BABY or SLIM co-signing his byatchassness about the mixtape game
here's a clip which shows Baby and Slim not too long ago thanking the Mixtape deejays for turning Wayne into a "beast ($$$)" :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql5OPT2ronE&eurl=http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.7033/title.dj-doo-wop-responds-****-lil-wayne-with-video
And when he fell back and TRIED to clarify his rage about the mixtape game, as being directed at one individual crew (THE EMPIRE) he STILL DON'T MAKE ANY DAMN SENSE!
First of all i can say firsthand that the EMPIRE has done more to further the career of LIL WAYNE than anything Baby and UNIVERSAL has done....these mixtapes solidified Wayne in the streets, at NO EXPENSE to him.
Hell, let's be honest..THE DROUGHT series is a clasic...wtf is he griping about????
The CD's are put together so well, that i thought he (wayne) was co-signing them himself
His gripe is baseless, mixtapes regardless if they are co-signed by the artist or not do very little to HURT a credible marquee radio artist , in fact they are a sign that the artist work is so in demand , that somebody (deejay, bootleger) or whatever has to feed the streets desire to have that "work".
Wayne should take it as a compliment...look at Jeezy , 80% of the material on THUG MOTIVATION was already available damn thier a year in advance on TRAP OR DIE mixtape, and he still went on to sell like 2 million lps.
So wayne needs to shut the fukk up, he can't win this fight or argument
If the EMPIRE ain't doing it..somebody else WILL.........
cause that "THEY STEALING MY MUSIC" shyt is a pathetic argument..ain't nobody stealing a gottdamn thing that your people at UNIVERSAL haven't already leaked out intentionally and unintentionally for the sake of the matter UNIVERSAL and BABY will get their money back regardless, while the artist still begs for whatever points (crumbs) the label is willing to shell out, the leak of the album are clear quality tracks that came straight from the lab, so it's obvious the people in his OWN CAMP don't respect him.
but you wanna go after the mixtape deejays, cause u too puzzy to confront your "family" about thier lack of respect for you.

Disrespecting the DJ's is a bad idea in any musical genre....your songs will mysteriously get played less and less, your music will leak before it hits the street every single time, and your enemies will begin to get shine from your old "DJ" homies...
dude is hanging himself...
u messed up the premise in your argument by stating or giving the idea that you think wayne is broke and getting jerked crazy.....i do agree with your idea that mixtapes can help, and have helped wayne....But i also agree with wayne's point of view, on these dudes taking the saturation too far.

I don't know man, I don't really know what's the deal with his remarks about mixtape djays but I do know heavy drug use makes you bitter and broke. If he's getting high as much as people suspect, then he's gonna be salty because of that.
There's no way he is salty about how much money he's getting. He does features and that should be money going directly to HIM. He's getting money, he jkust aint staying rich I guess, and that has him angry.

the game has been saturated since the day mixtape deejays have utilized the INTERNET...
So what's your point????
THE EMPIRE cd's are a good look for WAYNE, i've got a few, and i still plan on copping the CARTER lp, cause they basically hyped him up so efficiently...

i do believe wayne is getting jerked outta his money. every cash money member left because of money issues. what makes him any different from them.juve was selling more records than wayne (last i checked he has still outsold wayne) and he left too.
but nobody really knows the terms of his contract, so we dont know whats going on at all.

most artists don't own their masters, thats not a  revelation that needed to be repeated. i'd say about 8% of musicians own they catalog and most of them is millionaires at least 100 times over. i think he's eatin just fine, of course baby and them gonna get as much as they possibly can, thats the business.

good post, I don't now how much is true, but it makes sense. Wayne is coming to the House of Blues here again in June, he was just here in January, it's not a 'hole in the wall' club, it's a decent venue, but like you said, an artist of his profile, esp. after 'Carter 2' shouldn't have to do that. With all the drugs, entourages, life on the road, and shady record lavel 'excecs' looming in the background, I could see Wayne broke in like 5 years, on some 'E True Hollywood Stories' sh!t.

i disagree with all of this, almost word for word.
a) wayne had a chance to sign with def jam 2-3 years ago, but decided to stay with cash money cause they were paying him more. hes always been the most paid out of the hotboys.
b) everything he said to dis those mixtape djs made perfect sense. whether or not you like lil wayne one thing you gotta admit about him is he does have a good work ethic. he cares about the music he makes, he's always trying new stuff. whether its playing the guitar, singing, starting a rock band, whatever... he's always pushing himself as an artist.
and the mixtapes are NOT why he's big right now. its the guest appearances.. make it rain, we taking over, that destinys child song 'soldier' a few years ago started all of this. matter of fact, what started all this, was at the end of bring it back on the carter when he said he was the best rapper alive. thats when he started getting national attention. from there, the guest spots took off and he got to where he is today.
cause you cant name 1 song from one of these crummy mixtape djs that has blown up for lil wayne. he was referring to the hundreds of mixtapes that are out under his name, that he has nothing to do with.

good points, but I think the Cash Money/Def Jam thing was a loyalty issue, and not a money issue. Like he was really gonna leave his 'Daddy', as creepy as that sounds. Also, 'I Feel Like Dying' was huge, I heard that everywhere since it first dropped, from white girls, to whoever.

When Cash Money Signed to Universal in the late 90's, along with their 30million dollars that they received from the deal, they also got to keep their masters, and a few other incentives similar to what Rocafella got from Def Jam... Keep in mind EVERY ARTIST LEFT THE LABEL.... LOL it goes from multiple artist eating off of one plate to basically ONE... This nig has money for days...
This isn't counting the money he receives for guest appearances(75,000 to 100,000$ I think) Thats a fuccin check for 75,000 to 100,000 dollars for every guest verse....LMBAO... I doubt Baby would gank Wayne out of Any money because in an interview he basically said WAYNE IS CASH MONEY(he literally is their only known artist right now).... That would be like Dame trying to gank Jay out of money around the time Vol 3. Dropped etc... Wouldnt happen....

Actually...no...true enough he signed the customary slave deal when he was 12 years old and fresh out the hood, just like the rest of the Hot Boys...but Wayne prolly has one of the best deals in the industry at this point....mainly based on the fact that Cashmoney had no choice after everybody else left lol.....after the first Carter his contractual obligations to CMR were over and he was a free agent...that's what led to the bidding war between Def Jam/Roc-a-Fella and Universal/Def Jam...he ended up signing a new deal straight through Universal that gave him all the rights to his masters, a big singing bonus, and the formation of his own imprint (Young Money)...Baby also gave him a percentage in Cash Money and an executive role at the label (Wayne's the person that signed Brisco)...long story short, for better or worse, he'll more than likely never leave Cash Money...him, Baby and Slim are like a three headed monster

i thoght of that.
its confusing though, cause
gossip
dying
la la la
and the intro on the leak
are all album quality cuts... and i think, in his mind, he "released" them to the public, in the form of the leak... or whatever dj got his hands on them first.
all these people thinking lil wayne is going to get run out of the industry because of this need to find a new angle to attack him.
hes obviously cool with some djs... like drama, khaled, and others. if he wants to put out new material, he'll just do it through them.
and all these crusty ass, bootlegging "djs" will STILL take those tracks, throw in some tracks from tha block is hot that his newer fans havent heard, photo shop a pic of lil waynes face onto the body of the cloverfield monster, name it "i am a monster," and make their money off lil wayne.
THATS what he was referring to.
He was still signed so he couldnt go anywhere without baby lettin him go.

theres no way that dj whoever, taking wayne songs from 99, mixing in "dying" and releasing it on the internet is why he is where he is today.
this has been a GRADUAL build up. i know it seems like he just exploded on the scene, but its like wayne said himself
"i havent put out 25 mixtapes"
lmao, its the truth though.
datpiff has like, 300 wayne tapes.
from what i understand, he doesnt have creative control (executive producer) rights on his deal with universal/cash money... baby or slim is usually credited as executive producer. what that means, in essence, is wayne just records music, submits it, and everyone else puts the album together. its obvious wayne cares about music, so i think (from stuff like the BAG mixtape, and the dedication tapes, and the drought) when he puts out an OFFICIAL mixtape, he has full artistic control, and he likes that. in that regard, he's only put out like, 10 mixtapes since tha carter 1. sure, thats a lot, and from THOSE mixtapes, there have been some well known songs (dying, gossip, etc.) THAT made him famous.
some no name dj, taking THOSE SAME TRACKS a month later, and making what is essentially a mix-cd, and making it look like wayne co-signed it, "cheapens" waynes music to a degree.
and as drugged out/weird as wayne is... from the amount of time he spends in the studio, you gotta believe he CARES about his music, and his image as an artist.

i disagree with all of this, almost word for word.
a) wayne had a chance to sign with def jam 2-3 years ago, but decided to stay with cash money cause they were paying him more. hes always been the most paid out of the hotboys.
b) everything he said to dis those mixtape djs made perfect sense. whether or not you like lil wayne one thing you gotta admit about him is he does have a good work ethic. he cares about the music he makes, he's always trying new stuff. whether its playing the guitar, singing, starting a rock band, whatever... he's always pushing himself as an artist.
and the mixtapes are NOT why he's big right now. its the guest appearances.. make it rain, we taking over, that destinys child song 'soldier' a few years ago started all of this. matter of fact, what started all this, was at the end of bring it back on the carter when he said he was the best rapper alive. thats when he started getting national attention. from there, the guest spots took off and he got to where he is today.
cause you cant name 1 song from one of these crummy mixtape djs that has blown up for lil wayne. he was referring to the hundreds of mixtapes that are out under his name, that he has nothing to do with.
A......before i even state the fallacy of your premise, i highly suggest you read up on the fundementals of Music Publishing, Royalties and Contracts emphasizing SERVICES RENDERED.......WAYNE didn't decide to stay with CASH MONEY because of pay, he stayed because HE HAD NO CHOICE..it's not his fukking decision to make, he had yet to fulfill his contractual obligation to them , which includes MORE ALBUMS owed to UNIVERSAL/CASH MONEY, as well as the fact that if he even THOUGHT about breaching that contract he not only run the risk of having BABY exploit his catalog that is highly valuable at this point, but also leakage of countless unreleased material as well as "retribution" in the form of blackballing by BABY and UNIVERSAL or in a worst scenario (A MYSTERIOUS DEATH).... Wayne is an ARTIST (SLAVE) nothing more nothing less, u idiots see a nicca video playing all the time, and he jeweled up and automatically think he's rich or has power to make decisions about his career, if you don't belive the facts i just displayed, look to his own quotes, in which he discussed the situation JAY-Z offered him, LIL WAYNE himself said and i am paraphrasing..."That was the largest advance upfront money he was ever offered in a deal...I never seen anyone PUT UP A MILLION DOLLARS on the "table" like that".........., the truth about his situation with CASH MONEY will soon be revealed, as other countless artist label relationships i.e (lox bad boy, beanie roc, snoop death row)...it's only a matter of time....watch the clock...because as CHRIS ROCK says..."that train ain't never late"
B....I don't doubt his passion for the music, but i would say it has run amock, with WAYNE thinking he's so damn prolific and brilliant that he can just drop ANYTHING, let's be honest..NOT EVERYTHING WAYNE has dropped has been hot, thier is alot and i mean ALOT of thowaway tracks and filler songs, and just run of da mill mixtape joints , where all u can get out of them is a few hot bars, NOTHING MEMORABLE, except for the few notables such as "MILLI", and "GOSSIP"...so if anyone is guilty of exploiting LIL WAYNE..it's LIL WAYNE HIMSELF............the deejays just have so much access to his shyt, cause he puts SO MUCH SHYT OUT THIER..but let's be honest, ALL THIS SHYT AIN'T QUALITY and i am also referring to the shyt on the OFFICAL MIXTAPES like DEDICATION 1 and 2...........
RAPPERS are like hoes , wanna hold everyone else RESPONSIBLE for thier demise other than themselves..........

i see what youre saying, but i still disagree.
why would he have been looking at signing with another imprint, if he handt fufilled his contractual obligation with cmr/universal? its not like jay and def jam execs couldnt contact universal and see what wayne's contractual obligation was BEFORE making an offer.
and in terms of baby strong arming wayne - i agree with you that baby owns all his masters, but that's neither here nor there. wayne doesnt have one hit song on his own pre-carter 2 that would even really matter with royalties down the road. the biggest songs he was on in terms of commercial success were either from another artist on the cash money imprint, (juvenile - back that up, big tymers - number one stunna, bg - bling bling) or guest spots (destinys child - soldier.) waynes biggest commercial hit before re-upping with cash money was "shine" from lights out, or MAYBE "way of life" from 500, but royalties from way of life would be tricky anyways on that track because the beat is a tupac song.
and as for him flooding the market with songs, i completely agree, he puts a lot of sh*t out... or at least a lot of sh*t leaks. HOWEVER, his official mixtapes... theres only like 10 of them. the rest of the stuff, he just considers throw away tracks, that maybe he doesnt want to see the light of day. plus, with most of those mixtapes, its GUEST SPOTS that he's done, that the dj will cut up and put on a tape.
i think the only way wayne is at fault here is by not keeping his inner circle tight. if hes gonna go in the studio and just f*ck around every day for 6 hours, he either needs to make sure its just him and smoove, and not let anyone get their hands on the takes.

because def jam could always offer to buy him out of his contract from cash money but that is all up to baby if he would've let that happen.

"B*tch ass n*gga I ain't got no master/
Rich ass n*gga I got all my masters/
B*tch ass n*gga I ain't got no master/
Rich ass N*gga"
-Lil Wayne on the "Dead Presidents" freestyle...
so u think shawty lo who got a independent deal gave wayne 100 stacks to get on they know remix. U think Lloyd who was signed to murder inc and them niccas was broke when they single came out gave wayne 100K for a verse. Or I duess DTP gave that nicca 100K for duffle bag boys. Yall niccas believe everything yall hear. As bad as the music bizz is nowadays and the way labels are shortenin budgets and sh1t u think a nicca is gettin 75-100K for a 16.
