ok i let work n school n...wendy's get the best of me so now im trying to lose so serious weight. ima tell u guys my goals n u can tell me if they seem do able and give me some tips.

here's my stats.
female
height 5'1 1/2
weight 157

my plan:

workout: 6 days a week, 1 hr cardio for 6 days/wk + 1 hour weight lifting class 2/wk

cardio for me usually includes 30 minutes treadmill but im only burning about 160 calories in that time because i run kinda slow (speed 5.0) not on purpose but i have short legs lol.
then 20 minutes on the climber thing and then 10 mintues on bike or elliptical, usually elliptical.

diet: 3 regular meals, 2 snacks
for breakfast oatmeal or cream of wheat, milk, no sugar or one splenda
maybe a banana or peach

morning snack, wheat thins or grapes

lunch
chicken(foreman grill made) and veggies or kraft 100 calorie pack of whatever

afternoon snack
piece of fruit and more wheat thins

dinner
tuna or chicken (baked) and veggies n rice

sometimes a little more fruit before bed.

drinks: water, milk, or tea w/ splenda thats it. not soda, gatorade, fruit juice, none of that. im drinking about 3-4 bottles of water a day right now and i've been on my plan for 4 days now. i know i need to drink more but i hate water and going to the bathroom every 35 minutes too.

the cardio i do in the morning @ 6am before work. i want to start my weight training class back in the evening but i'd fell weird going twice a day, i'd feel like a gym rat or something:confused:

im trying to get to 110 by the first day of '09.

i really need some feedback:hug:

i have decided my motivation besides looking better n feeling better will be if i can lose the 50lbs, i will treat myself to a $500 shopping spree since i'll need new clothes anyway. i tend to be tight with money so this would be a big thing for me.

I'll try to help you out a little here. First, some diet stuff.

Usually, its the little things and changes that help you lose weight. I see that your eating three meals a day, which is great. You gotta eat breakfast to jump start that metabolism.

Whole milk tastes great, but its loaded with fat. If you can, go with 2 percent, 1 percent or skim. I personally wouldnt recommend skim to anyone because of its taste(and as a milk lover, I cant tell you enough how much I hate skim milk). If your already doing this, then your ahead of the game.

Even though you hate it, you gotta up the water drinking. Not that much, maybe another 2 bottles a day, depending on how big the bottles are. Especially since your not drinking anything to replace the stuff you lose during your workout.

Bread is an absolute diet killer, so if you have to have it, make sure its multigrain/wheat.

I dont know what veggies youre eating, but make sure you have a variety working there. Carrots, lettuce, beans, etc. Those are just some of the basics.

As far as the workout, I dont know what type of treadmill your working on. The one in the gym that I workout in will burn about 800 calories per hour if your on 4.0 speed. But that is also with some incline added in, so you get a hill effect going.

That's a start. Keep us posted...

I've never had whole milk my entire life lol. 2% is what im drinking now. i used to drink soy for a while but i couldnt take it, it tasted too different.

the bottles of water im drinking are regular 12 oz deer park bottles.

but whats the deal with cold cereal? is that ok to eat too? like special k red berries, or fruit n yogurt Cherios?

ive personally found the best results from some type of carb cycling diet. essentially 5 days of the week i eat 30-50 carbs a day, 1 day i eat around 150 carbs, 1 day i eat like 300 carbs. you should look into something similar and try it for a few weeks to see how it treats you.

otherwise, your diet is OK. i would try to get some protein in the morning. egg whites are good, turkey bacon is good to. shoot for at least 15-20g.

i would also try to taper the carbs after you get off work (except after days you do freeweights). you can keep the veggies in your dinner but i would cut out the rice. i'd also stop eating fruit before you sleep. try for some non fat cottage cheese.

go crazy with the splenda theres really nothing wrong with it.

great great info. thanx guys.

today i upped the incline on my treadmill and burned 260 calories in about 25 minutes:yes:

havent seen the scale moved yet but thats ok, i'll give it a week before i hop back on . its ok if the weight comes off gradually cuz i heard it easier to keep it off if u lose it the right ways, not super fast.

When i was in high school and i had to drop for athletics id just drink mad water cut out all sodas and juice drinks. even those energy drinks and them fruit drinks that claim they 100% fruit juice. If you want something fruity to drink, use real fruits and juice it. as long as you cut your calories your fine. find something you like that doesnt have a lot calories and fill up.. drinking water will fill u up so u wont be hungry.

I dunno how fit you are but for cardio do stuff thats fun and makes time go by fast. like playing tennis bball. shoot walking around the mall while you shopping helps too. Good luck ma!!

Good luck but to be realistic, I think you will hit 120-130lbs by than. Try looking at the scale every 2 weeks at least. You'll stress yourself out looking at it to much. Post pics when you reach your goal (now would be nice)

No whole milk ever? As a milk lover, I say that your deprived, but its not good for you. I'm strictly 2 percent right now. And soy is just wrong.....

You should be drinking at least 6 bottles of that deer park. Think about it as 2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon, and 2 at night. When you think about it like that, its not that much.

Since cereal is low in fat and calories, any cereal is good for a diet. Some have more sugar than the others, so as long as you stay away from Sugar Frosted Choco Bombs, you should be good.

Andre Patton is right on about the protein. Im not a egg white person, but I c/s on the turkey bacon. One boiled egg or a couple scrambled ones(no cheese) isnt too bad, along with some whole wheat toast and there is your protein right there. Fish is also big in protein, we get in trouble when we want to fry it. Broiled or baked only....

and like 314 said, its ok to change up the cardio to make it fun. Bike riding and roller skating are great too, plus if your gym is worth anything, they probably have some classes as well to up that heart rate.

Most treadmills have some sort of Hill workout that varies the level of incline during the session automatically, depending on what level you put it on. That helps so you dont have to do it.

Keep us posted, its always good to see people wanting to stay in shape

Ok I'll post some pics tomorrow cuz I'm posting from my phone right now.

Even if I hit 130 by xmas that's cool too cuz I still be on track to do it big for next summer. Short shorts here I come! Fa real if it takes longer than anticipated its fine because I plan to keep it off so better now that put it off cuz it seems to hard or takes too long. If I keep at it, its only a matter of time.

Question, how important is it to have a day of rest? This morning was my 5 straight day of going to the gym. Should I take a break tomorrow and get back at it Wednesday or is it ok to go everyday as long as you have a day in between weight training sessions?

after i take a look at your pics i can definitely give you a good estimate on what some realistic goals should be. remember you wanna cut fat, and stimulate muscle growth, so it does take more time.

i would definitely take a day off every week. physiologically, its not going to hurt you (based on your current workout plan). but its important for you mentally just to take off that pressure. you dont want to burn yourself out mentally. just cut down your caloric intake (mostly from carbs if possible) on your off days by 150-200 calories and you'll be fine.

I think going down to 110 is more weight than you should want to lose, 130 would probably be good. You're not that big. :)

andre patton
06-12-08, 05:27 PM
yeah, if you tried to lose 47lbs....thats like 1/3 of your body weight. you dont have that much fat on your frame to lose.

130 sounds about perfect. that will have you nice and lean, but still thick in the right places. you can probably get there by the end of the summer if keep yourself motivated.

thanx for the feedback guys.

u cant really see it in the photo but i have like thunder thighs fa real. i still want them to be thick n sexy, but not damn near rub n ****:smh:

i was down to 125 once but i did it the wrong way, just not eating and when i did it was just a lot of fruit, no bread, no balance. but i could only see a minimal difference in my legs so i was a little disappointed.

now im trying to do it the right way.

so im eating one piece of whole wheat bread with my egg whites in the morning+ wheat thins with lunch+ and mini bagel (100 cal, 19 carbs, lite cream cheese) before my weight lifting class for energy. is that too many carbs n bread for one day? oh yeah, also some whole grain tortilla chips sometimes, 1 serving?

also whats u guys view on doing cardio n weight in the same day?? like cardio in the morning, 1 hour. weight training 2x a week in the evening, 1 hour.

hai ms poota... sorry for the late serious response.

if you want to lose weight FAST, try the velocity diet. my friend's done it, and she lost 22lbs in a month. that oughta jumpstart you.

You'll probably always have big legs, it's genetic. I would suggest you just learn to like them. Also what you posted as far as meals probably isn't enough calories. If you don't eat enough you'll kill your metabolism and might even gain weight.

Any nutritionist would tell you that there's no healthy way to lose 22lbs in a month. Even if you didn't eat anything you'd still lose less than a pound a day.

Also I googled it and apparently you only eat one solid meal a day, other than that just protein shakes.

Extremely unhealthy.

Yeah, sorry for my late response too.

Like everyone said, I think around 130 would be a great, attainable goal to reach by the end of the summer. You dont look bad, so you should be just toning everything up.

I've been developing a workout for my girl, doing some research, and I'll post it when I get finished.

thats the problem then. when you lose weight the wrong way you lose much more muscle then fat...then you just look like a smaller, worse off version of yourself because you have a higher body fat percentage. the key is lowering your bf %.

that seems like a good number of carbs for the day. add up everything you eat, and if i were you i would try to make sure i stayed between 80-100.

cardio in the morning and weight training in the evening is perfect. you could do that daily if you wanted to.

I've done the diet before. If you look at the nutritional breakdown its actually not THAT bad. I bet of those 22lbs he's taking about, 12lbs was water. So his friend probably put most if not all of that water back on once they started eating carbs again.
