How do you feel about his interpretation of Hell?
Very graphic, very realistic, thought it was a good book. I would love to see a version of this used with modern day type of sins.....
Haven't read it since High School so I'm funky with the memory, but some of the rings of hell had me like , especially when you reach to where the devil is (interesting concept)

Yea I thought the last ring was interesting also. It seems as if he was condemning some people to hell for only doing one thing wrong though. I didnt quite agree with that.

Nah, he moreso condemned them for how they lived their lives- he put as lot of powerful figures in there.
I really loved it, but I want to read the rest of the comedy- *mental note*.

Yeah as Pooh said, the concept of the rings from what I remember was the deadly sins that people committed, things such as gluttony, wrath, lust, the violent ones, things that were more than likely done over a lifetime
The order the rings go in I never really liked (I believe some sins are deadlier than others) but i like the concept of the punishment given to them (Such as lustful sinners blown around constantly in a violent storm) (The devil sharing the center of hell in a block of ice with the world's worst traitors with him)

yeah!! the more you talk about it the more I remember..it was interesting how each ring or level repesented the sin and what your punishement was.. I forgot which ring it was, but I do remember one where the person had to push a huge bolder up a steep hill, and it kept rolling you over you...just think that happening over and over again for eternity!

I remember 1 of the guys died by being locked up in a building with his 2 sons and he had to watch them starve to death first and then he died himself. Now thats crazy.

I believe that one was "pride"....people carrying so much pride on their shoulders it led them astray so i assume that now, that in hell they were forced to carry that heavy pride they carried during life with them around hell for the rest of eternity.......
I might have to go get that book again:yes:

The book I have has a few explanatory notes in the back, but it was still a bit confusing. I'd have to say i understood like 75% of the book.

I went to wikipedia to see what you were talking about, yeah its nicely broken down. I can't remember if we read the original or newer version but yet and still, a bunch of broke, ignorant inner-city school kids reading that....i think only like 3 of us understood that book as we read it
I wonder how much the book is hittin for

It was a good book, but the biases get in the way some times. All his enemies are in Hell, but all his friends and family are in his third book, the one about Heaven. Yeah, OK. But the way he had the punishments were pretty cool.
