They just built a L.A fitness in my area and i decided to check it out just to see whats up.
I was so impressed by the club i ended up joining lol.
Overall the equipment, the lockerooms are better. It also has a sauna, hot tub, and just a overall cleaner appearance. I was also amazed that they had a basketball court there(once i saw that i was sold lol)
The only problem is that there arent as many l.a fitness as ballys, but i think thats going to change becuase i heard that l.a fitnesses are poping up like crazy and ballys is bankrupt! lol.
If there is a l.a fitness in your area, i HIGLY recommend you join. Im paying 35 a month, no b.s, no contracts.

since its so cheap to join....it means that its packed like a b*tch....and its more a gym for fat guys and girls who like to do the girly machines...the mens section where the real weights are is always full...
i only recommend if your able to go during non peak times...

i live in the greater los angeles area and i go to la fitness.
they're on track to have one in like every 5 mile radius in every urban and suburban area in southern cali. theres already 10 of em within a 10 mile radius of area code 90631
the fees you pay and the contract you signed isnt the standard amongst the clubs, though. in areas where they already have a ton of business they're more strict on the sign-up fees. i had to pay a $75 sign up fee, but i only pay $25 a month so it balances out.

As long as the gym has weight plates, dumbells, squat rack, leg press, dip stand and cable deck, im good. I don't really want it to be too nice because it attracts the bull$hitters. I don't mind a dungeon.....most people there mean business. I don't need a juice bar, sauna, hot tub, ball court, swimming pool, track, or annoying trainers trying to offer me unsolicited advice. All that crap drives up membership prices. The basics have been proven to work time after time.
bally isn't bankrupt...they went through and are now out of it. Im a former employee. They have new equipment and my building was remodeled earlier this year. It looks alot better than it did. Either way, ive been a member of both but i'd pick either. Long as women are there, im there

I fuks with the dungeons. I go to workout not to sip on a mocha and ride on the bike that has tv's in the handle bars while I wipe sweat for my brow and get :gag: from people in the gym actually sweating. How dare they come to my gym and sweat.
Dungeons>>>>>>>All that soccer mom bs. I don't care about working out around women or not. I put my creative on and get into my own world.

im a germaphobe so i HAVE to work out in a clean gym. I used to go to the ballys around my house and there were people in there with poor hygiene funking up the place and the equipment was dirty.
my father used to come home with rashes and **** all the time from there.
I mean business when it comes to the gym though. I just like a clean place with nice amenities. Nothing wrong with that.

Pretty much, I don't need all that extra stuff. I go to get in and get out. No matter what im working on that day, im never in there for longer than an hour.

c/s being a germaphobe. f*ck working out in a dump. my gym is like a damn resort. http://www.lifetimefitness.com/about_us/
yeah $50 bucks a month is kinda steep but never having to wait for a lap lane to free up ..and never having to wait for equip makes it worth it. not to mention the locker rooms and shower areas are kept EMACULATE by a 24/7 housekeeping staff.

LA fitness is the spot in the summer becuase if the courts and the b!tches. The cheap membership rates bring out all the broke college women who wanna get in shape for the weather...
The just opened one by my house. I'm at 24 hour right now which is closer. I wanna check it out but for me the biggest thing about a gym is convenience
Lifetime Fitness (as someone else posted) is the GOD of gyms. It's the only gym I have belonged to and once you're a member of a gym like it, 99% of other gyms pale in comparison.
That's really the only thing I miss since i've relocated. No Lifetime in my new city. I miss those weekday, midnight full court basketball games and what not...yes there would be peeps in their running full court at midnight on a Wednesday.
Now, I just go to the local recreation center in my city which is brand new. Luckily, is has all the essentials for me (good weight equipment, cardio, full court bball, even an indoor area for flag football) but it's not 24/7 and the leg press machine only goes up to like 450lbs (light for me). I prefer the leg press machine you can add your own plates too cause I don't do squats. So I have to resort to lunges with 50lb weights in my hand. :thumbsdow I hate it, but its killer.
