Don't know if we had a thread like this before, but how many of you guys overlay your drums sounds when you create a beat. I remember a few of yall sayin you did this. Me, in particular, have been doing this since I got into beat making. I rather combine my sh1t and come up with a different/original sound. I do this with my snares and other sounds as well. What about yall? Then again, this might be somethin every producer does and I'm just a lil late.

I overlay my snares thats about it, everyone once in awhile I do it to the kick, but I'm trying to get out of that because it seems to be mufflin my tracks.

i usually do it when the beat goes from demo to the next level. when its at the demo stage, i'm trying my best to have each sound stand out, so i try to keep it simple. when i take it to the next level, i then work on layers (like imo, i like to layer the snares) and other misc. sounds.

i usually have a 808 thump to my music. that's always the backbone.

I layer or stack lots of shyt over it though. I like having organic sounding drum sounds over the decayed and release-heavy kick. I think it has a bright sound.

Yes EQ'ing is the Key for me, 100% of the time I free hand my drum patterns, the only time the PC kicks in is when I quantize.
