N-ggas hate when you make it and escape from the war
Im from a hood where you hafta save up to be poor
The streets are watchin me, dont want me eatin properly
They rather me be like my n*ggas who are deep in poverty
Who get beat by cops in streets, cant keep their property
Since they cant beat the lottery, they proceed to robberies
Yet they get caught, no lawyers, nobody to spot em the bail
So they rot in the jail, with everybody to acknowledge you failed
Your insurance curtailed, cause you had a criminal record
So when your baby sick, you cant go to the clinic to check her
You try and find a physician to write a prescription
But since you aint got the money, nobody would listen
Since your bread is thin, you feel that your led to sin
So you go to the pharmacy to steal the medicine
The alarm sets off, so you escape from the buildin
Willing to sacrifice yourself, for the sake of your children
Your daughters grabbing onto you and hysterically crying
As your being dragged back to jail where your numerically dying
Ive been through it all, thats how I can speak with wisdom
You try and try but its impossible to beat the system
Even if your belief is Christian, your not exempt from this
I should mention this, Im not a rapper you should attempt to diss
Pay no attention to haters, as I ascend as your savior
I put my pen to the paper, and it went into labor
Giving birth to knowledge that's true to the soul
That will provide solace like soup in a bowl
To improve is the goal, but I must depict these harsh realities
But some rappers creativity is constricted by their salaries
They bread junkies, but can I blame their addiction
If they find fame better than shame and eviction
As I ask myself, is this one major contradiction
I thought the goal was to escape the affliction
So by my logic, Its better to be in the projects than a mansion
When I preach that the object is progress and advancement
Is it a mistake to be dissing, rappers who are successful
If they rhyme about their lives, that are that less stressful
Do I become a hater, like the folks I have disdain for
The ones who rather you broke and complain more
And walking out the same door, with the stained floor
From the splattered blood of a victim from a chainsaw
Do we prefer pain or , rain, than joy and sunshine
And rather see you destroyed than become shrined
The throne of hip hop as been void for sometime
So they ask me to step in to exploit the dumb minds
Avoid the gun crimes and dont give into pressure
Or mix business with pleasure, let me finish my lecture
To the youth, they say hes shrewd and hes clever
Spitting the truth that will allow you to do better
I give sight to the blind , as I write this song
Its like whats wrong is right, and whats right is wrong
They rather see you locked in a pen, then on a yacht wit your friends
Tryna put a stop to this trend, and bring this paradox to an end
