question about that 9th wonder joint, or khaled's sh1t, etc...

are those producers paying for verses?
are the emcees paying for the beats?
or is it a mutual exchange and neither party pays for the services of the other?

what's good with these producer albums?

the producers are payin for verses out of the album budget..its only mutual at the time of work.. the artist will come in a spit for free.. at the moment.. but before the album is released theres paperwork involved which means money is transfered.. no matter if the artist is signed to the producers label.. they will get paid...

O word? I thought for sure o dude was just an annoyin ass dj that just put artists together. I know a good deal of beats that the artists go off of come from producers like cool n dre and the runners.

DJ Khaled produces but he only produced two joints on his last album, because he said he wanted it to have a different feel to it.

I saw an interview on youtube where Timbaland says he makes artists sign agreement that whatever tracks he does for them, he can also put the track on his album.

It depends..

I'm putting together a compilation project, no label or distro. Everything out of my pocket, probably press up hundreds to a 1,000 the most.. if that w/the decline of cd sales and the nature of the project not well known. But I already have it about 1/2 way done. I work with a lot of different artists and close with them. So getting someone on something like this isn't hard, but if it's going thru a label and you don't really work with that artist, they'll want money. Like someone else said, it could be favor for a favor type deal or if there is a budget then that all can get worked out where everyone can eat.

I have so far featured on my compilation: Styles P, Sheek Louch, Infamous Mobb, Nature, St. Laz, Chozen Few, Murda Mook, Snyp Life, Ransom, Solomon Childs & MORE!
