Is that what contributes to cortisol levels raising? Does it make you fatter? And How long are you supposed to wait if lying down is bad for you?
is there any special reason you feel like lying down after you eat?

I was told it's not good to do, but I do it all the time and haven't gained any significant weight because of it. Here's an interesting link:

If i remeber correctly, the metabo slows down when you go to sleep.

I don't always fall asleep, but sometimes I do, and I can see how that slows down the metabolism and will give you the shyts now and then. I try not to do that anymore though.
Still, I often lie down on the couch after eating, and I'm wondering if that changes the way the body digests the food or absorbs the fat. Like does standing/sitting up work with gravity to push the bad stuff out your system? lol. Just wondering here.

in laymans terms, why put gas in the car if you're not gonna drive it?
if you load your body with fuel, it expects to use it. then you fukk around and go to sleep, putting your body in hibernation mode. so your system says, "well...what the fukk am i gonna do with all this fuel?" and it has no choice but to store it as fat.
this is speaking very generally. you can alter your macronutrient breakdown to make sure the food you are getting before (or even during) sleep wont be stored as fat, and will actually help keep your metabolism up...but whos got time for that?

hmmm - do you think this is why people in mediterranean countries can have afternoon siestas and remain thin & relatively healthy?

well the thing with americanized diets is that people generally eat too much. So when they do sit down and relax their bodies don't know how to burn it or metabolize it..because it's already gotten alot of waste to remove from previous meals.
I would say its ok to sit down, aslong as your in a comfortable position and it doesn't hurt you. But if you get heartburn, or feel discomfort..accompany your meal either pre or post with some apple cider vinegar for the powerful enzymes.
I follow the warrior diet, which means I get a HUGE meal at the end of every night, falling asleep with a full stomach. The difference is, I hardly eat during the day so my body metabolizes while I sleep, aswell as during the work day when I snack lightly.

Thanks a lot. I almost forgot about this thread.
I think I'll start walking after meals, or maybe walk around the house and stay up. I guessing doing dishes or mopping/sweeping can help a little?

if you decide to go to sleep and pass out after eating, I suggest you wait 2-3 hours before lying down.. especially if you ate a big meal...... small meals are 2 hours before lying down and big meal 3-4 hours...

yesterday...
woke up at 7 am...ate some oatmeal..drank some water with a tbs of vit c and went to work for 10.
..
..
...my job is pretty demanding physically, so I drink plenty water..2 bottles at least..no food though..felt great, clear and strong..
along with my 8 hours of sleep the night before and 7 hours of wake I went through a 15 hour undereating phase.
cooked up dinner for 5 pm...
3 Huge Slices of Pizza(stacked with green onions, bell peppers, cheddar, tomato sauce, sunflower oil, and garlic)..i would say it amounted to 1 Large pizza from pizza hut..
Had 2 big bowls of brown rice with broccoli, bell pepper, and lentils
then i had some curly fries...about a large plate full.......
waited about half hour, then had some mango, 6 strawberries, and an activia yogurt...
i got fatigued like CRAZY so I went to bed about half hour later...woke up this morning feeling great and energized, did my laundry, cleaned sink full of dishes and am about to clean the house.
In my opinion its not about eating before you go to sleep, but how you eat throughout the entire DAY
