to be straight up honest bro.. i joined the rocbattles for a month.. but i think after 2 weeks i got fed up wit the whole battles and bs about it so i stopped.. I got a few major placements so i figured in downtime i could lease a few joints to keep the ball rollin but honestly what can i do with a $20 lease placement everyweek???.. thats not gonna change my life actually its gonna piss me off.. so i decided to back away from the petty cash beat sales and grind the streets hard.. it may take a month to make that 5 to 10 grand but i work a 9 to 5.. so im not doin bad at all.. those sites are honestly a waste of time and money...

plus those type of placements wont gain you rank in the game.. you need to salidify serious placements and get a serious credit to make serious noise...

I agree with Seige on the fact that $20 lease placement aint gonna make you a lot of money, but for someone like me who stranded on a damn island. Its better then nothin. I cant network other than on the internet, so I dont have too many options right now.

I figure if someone buys a joint for 20 bucks goes and makes 30 or 40 mixtapes gives them out. Thats 30 or 40 people who now know who I am. Its not my only plan, I'm just looking at like another networking tool.

Besides too many fuccin djs ripped me off, when I tried to get slots on their mixtapes.

I get regular sales for leasing and selling exclusives I was talking more like tv shows, commercials, movies, etc but I feel you on that rocbattle tip its more like a popularity contest than an actual challenge or competition.

sunz I sold over 200 beats just by advertising for myself and word of mouth. It takes a while to build up but it does pay off.

I live in Alabama but I get most my money from people over the internet.

Im selling them basically word of mouth and myspace. Which has been getting better, just networking and promoting my tracks.

you have 10x better chance of getting something to go through if u go out and meet these people vs online

put a face to your music and people will remember you longer

I'm starting to think PMP is a scam by the labels to make money. They make you think you got a chance at a placement, but they actually dont even check out the tracks. I havent heard of one unknown producer getting a major placement through PMP.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong? Cuz I'm looking for a reason to keep shelling out 50 bucks a month for the fuccin thing.

I see what you're saying, but I think it's just like any other job market. Experience is key. Few artists in the industry are trying to work with unknowns, I think.

Maybe after a few big name placements, I'll try PMP again.
I've gotten better contacts on myspace and that shyt was free.

I have been listening to interview after interview from Midi Mafia to other big cats and they all say going out and meeting and networking with people and passing out cd's is more likely to get you a joint towards placement before anything else. Dynamic Producers has a conference and many events that have lead people to get joints placed.

So is organizations like PMP worth it?

The only reason I started fuccin wit PMP was because I cant really network in person where I live. I'm on a damn island. I'm getting ready to move back to mainland though, but until then the only networking I can do is through the internet.

90% of the emcees where I live are corny and think they 2pac on a damn island. Studio gangstas are on a whole other level down here, for real.:smh:

I hear you, **** get on the sites myspace and start networking hard so when you move into that area you can start creative a buzz now, when you get into that town you can start connecting with all the cats you have been rappin with over the net.Im steppin my **** up locally right now. pmp can be a drag, at least for that money they can a discussion boards and more.

Yeah I'm networking like crazy, but its getting kind of fustrating with emcees telling you they gonna buy a track and then never get back to you. A big name PM'd me on myspace about checkin out my tracks earlier this week, so hopefully that'll lead to somethin.

I think I'm gonna go back to workin on puttin out my own albums in the meantime. One hip-hop and the other rap-metal.

the good thing about pmp is that it lets you holla @ people who've got placements and chop it up. from that, they might listen to you ish and somethin might pop off

Another organisation like pmp

I dont know man, A&R Live Hookup looks like it might be a bigger scam then PMP.

Includes A&R Live Hookup by phone and web (plus)
1 song review & feedback -- $149
2 song reviews & feedback -- $199
3 song reviews & feedback -- $249

Thats a lot of money just for some feedback.

Thats a good idea about contacting people wit placements on PMP, I'm gonna try that before my account runs out this month.
