"Truthfully, I don’t give two spits where Clifford is from. It makes no difference to me but it’s kind of funny that this Shawty Lo/T.I. fiasco has unfurled the way it has. The reason being is that T.I. has always branded himself as “Mr. Real,” you know the REAL tRapper. It’s kind of ironic that in constantly calling out Bankhead over records that someone finally er…checked his resume. Lo and behold, Riverdale High School seems to be where T.I. attended school. Needless to say, Riverdale is far…far…far…faaaaar from Bankhead (15-25 minutes away). Now, don’t take this blog as me questioning his seedy past as his record sheet of 7 8 felonies seems to speak for itself but I’m glad Shawty Lo is pulling his card.
There’s only one genre where someone can profit out of fabricating their persona and it’s Hip Hop. In the bizarro Gangster Rap realm, it almost seems the more gangster you are the more $$$ you get. The inverse is true as well.
We’ll use the Ja Rule as well as the Dipset case study. Ja Rule’s status before Fiddy came through was comparable to…Fiddy’s now. He was in movies. He was on mad feature appearances. He was running around shirtless. In fact, it’s almost like 50 bodied Ja to be Ja. Nevertheless once Fif Kembo Sliced Ja on wax it was pretty much a wrap. Similarly examine Dipset’s descent off the planet of relevance. Once cats started getting their kuffis slapped off in the streets, trademarks impacted on their eyes and such, their popularity on the block waned.
I don’t condone violence but I don’t condone lying either. It’s wacksauce that rappers can scribble down a persona on paper and act it out in public and cake substantially. Someone had to put an end to it. We should thank Shawty Lo. He’s championing honesty amongst other things. If T.I. ain’t from Bankhead then he should be yelling Bankhead. It’s as simple as that. I hope the two can settle it nonviolently but if a midget man cage match needs to go down so be it."
****if you scroll down you'll see the first comment by a poster, claiming that the footage was NOT shot on Bankhead:
"On the MTV "My Block" episode someone on here referred to, NEVER does T.I. refer to the 'hood as "Bankhead", but he DEFINATELY said he lived in that house his WHOLE LIFE...
