I'm tired of reading the same 'hood novels. IMO they all go the same; nice guy meets drug dealer guy, he get killed or whatever, she becomes just as hard as he was, lots of sex, killing, routine plot and not much depth.:thumbsdow

its was fun to read when i was like 16, especially with all the sex but now i like novels that can really hold my interest

went to the library this week and was just browsing and i picked up the James Patterson novel, The Cross. i didn't think i would like it, boring or whatever. so i sat down n read the first 30 or so pages. took it home and read the whole thing that day. GREAT BOOK!! now im bout to start reading his novel Quickie which i think is a little newer. you guys should look into him and other suspense novelists, it keeps it interesting without reusing the same old cliche ghetto storyline.

so if u guys tired of reading "laquisha's thug" the trilogy and the like, you have to branch out!!!

I only read classics. There are too many books out there, so I thought I would go with the old classics which have stood the test of time...

Dostoevsky... Tolstoy... Homer (and I try and read a lot of philosophy) and the individual great books 1984, Brave New world, catch 22, I don't bother with any of the other riff raff.... you may be a good writer but if you're not going to open up my mind why bother. That's why i love Dostoevsky (purely in a platonic literature sense; although he did have a hell of a beard)

I think I may have a thing for Russian authors.

There are not enough hours in the day, sh1t sucks.

I like the hood novels but I also love James Paterson's novels too. Some of the ones I read are: 4thof July, 3rd Degree, 2nd Chance, 1st to Die, Honeymoon, The lake House, The Beach House, Beach Road, Cradle and All, Hide & Seek,Violets are blue, the Cross, some of the Maxium Ride books etc. They were all good

I hate to see women on the train reading those "ghetto" noires, I'm like: what are you getting from that besides info on how to please a man. I love his book "Susan's Diary for Nicholas". The ending was so unexpected...
